OMG!

Don't mean to be snarky, but there are currently 96 pages in just this one thread alone going back and forth on this subject. Read through the comments, the info from Porsche (somewhere around page 60), and watch the video from Andreas Preuniger a page or two later. Read the other threads in this forum. I think every possible opinion has already been expressed, many times over.

Keep the pumpkin and add a 991. There are so few RS'es in the PRC (official dealer says <10) that you'd be very glad to have held on to yours in 10 years. The latest PRC import rules only help your case further.

A bit of an OT: we Porsche Club HK are doing a HKG-Shanghai drive this fall with a day at SIC-F1. Meet up?

Let's say car survives, which it should (My RS never had a problem, not even clutch problems like everyone else), we put some slicks, play a little with a few things, and set up some decent lap times.
Porsche should send us a thank you letter
You ordered a 991GT3? You're going to leave the HANS at home and track the Cars and Coffee Blvd seats?

Sebring is another matter, and you are right with the Hans and Halo seats it is a pain

Mike
The only "semi-major" accident at Sebring in Boxilla I've had (knock on wood), was backing into a concrete pillar when coming off the track going into a pit stall. Helmet and Hans makes backing in a trifle challenging.

He says the new GT3 is going to blow our minds. Night and day over current model.
DDog I'm down at Amelia also.. Went to the seminar on the 50th anniv of the 911. Harm Lagaay, Peter Schutz, Jeff Zwart, Hurley, Bobby Rahal, Patrick Long (the boy of the group) were on the panel. Bob Varsha moderated, Standing room only 800-1000 people. Great insight into the early development and how it shaped the current design.

It was mentioned Hurley and Pat Long were giving Cup car rides at Fernandina airport? Sorry but we missed that, on the list to drive a McLaren mp4 today... Awesome show every year.

He may be right, we'll see. But never forget who signs his paychecks.

Hey! They are fixed! Attribution GNIL -Rennteam.

"991 GT3 Central locking

The central locking on the new 911 GT3 is a completely new development with higher load limits and improved suitability for track use. The new 911 GT3-specific central lock is identified by a more robust wheel hub for a significantly improved camber stability and carrier bolts that are now fixed to the wheel hub (997 GT3 II: fastened to the brake chamber).

The significantly improved connection system is enhanced by larger bearing journals and larger wheel bearings that are now identical to the 911 GT3 Cup racing cars. The central screws have a friction optimised trapezoidal screw thread and a thread runout with reduced notch effect. The new central screws can be recognized visually by the revised ring gear. The dimensions and the basic shape of the central screws have been retained and the teeth re-accented by distinctive spaces between them. The central screws are anodised black on the new 911 GT3 and have a black wheel hub cover with a silver colored “GT3” logo. "

Please enlighten someone who hasn't owned CL's but only read of the issues some have had with them. Does that indicate a tongue-in-cheek "it's fixed" or are these real improvements that address known problems?

It means that they are telling all us that with the 997.2 there is a big problem with CLs (dispite their public reluctance to accept it) and they've had to go away and address it by making everything thicker, stronger and more robust so the CLs can handle a day at the track without snapping off. Will they? Who knows?...

The associated maintenance schedule (if they have one) will tell us how much better they are and how badly they shafted us 997.2 guys....
