Is there a reason why you could not break loose each nut while the car is on the ground, then raise the car and continue to more easily remove the CL, similar to 5 lug removal?

Apologies for the Q, I avoid CLs for lack of 480ftlb tool

Porsche says you should never do this, but some people do. However, even when on the ground it is easy to spin the front wheels with 430 ft-lbs of torque. Imagine if the car's engine had 430 Ft-Lbs of torque all directed to one front wheel (the lightest part of the car). Think you could do a burn-out?

That's why you need someone to press the brake pedal (and hold the steering wheel to eliminate the risk of major body damage with the 4 foot wrench, since there is no lock on the steering).

Excellent innovation! Thrilled to see you join as a sponsor to market the product, it is a niche one and I expect it to catch on quickly in the centerlock equipped community. Give me a ring to chat about it sometime, again

Do you think this will work BBS FI-R's as well? (staggered 20/21 setup RS sizes) if so can you please add me to the group buy list (assuming you ok with shipping to australia, obviously i will pay shipping). If too hard basket i understand. Looks like a great product, thanks.

The video of the factory using a similar tool is great product validation.

The other aspect is that you probably won't lose much cash on this tool if you ever have to sell it and you will find that you make new friends
...who want to borrow it!
I'll bet these hold their value on the secondary market.

What payment methods are you accepting?

Thanks Grant. The positive reaction from the Rennlist community has been way beyond my expectations.

John, I appreciated your advice prior to launch. I'll reach out over the next few days.

Thanks to SanDiegoDavid, Thinker23, cscrogham, crayon991, and Vintage72 for all joining the list today. Because of the great response I've added a lower price tier if we get to 14 people by Friday - which looks fairly likely.

To follow up on your comment on value - the folks in the initial group buy should be in good shape. I will continue to offer the tools for sale after the group buy, but orders after 6/21/19 will be on an individual basis @ $2,200ea.

Regarding payment, everyone so far has been ok with Paypal, but if you would like another option just reach out on PM and I'll work with you to figure something out.

Thanks again for all the interest. I'm looking forward to getting the tools out everyone!

Maybe V2 of the product can have a retention arm with multiple holes to move the nylon roller up and down for both larger and smaller wheels or to accommodate different wheel spoke designs.

Similar to the Hazet for the CGT.

And you can use more modestly sized breaker bar and torque wrench (that fit more easily in the car and many people already own).
You do not need someone to hold the steering wheel if you are doing it right. Just not yank the torque wrench side to side. Also, no need to keep the engine running for vacuum on the brakes - it hold for over 30 minutes with the engine shut off. Finally, on most split-beam wrenches, you can use the same wrench to brake and to torque, especially considering that braking torque is actually less than tightening torque, as long as CL is properly lubed. So there is no way to break the wrench by braking because braking requires relatively little force (in 25+ changes I've done so far, never over 500lb/ft and my wrench is good for 600lb/ft). So there is really no need to move the head attachment from torque wrench to breaker bar.

Not to take away from the quality of the product, but I just do not see the problem it is solving. Turning a nut with a big wrench is just as easy as turning it with a small wrench. The biggest PITA with CLs is disassembling and lubricating them with the grease that gets everywhere and needing to clamp the brakes, but that's still the case with that tool.

When I was prototyping the tool my local dealer showed me this CGT tool that they were forced to buy when the car came out in '05/'06. They still have it collecting dust 364 days of the year.

He said that they are going to get a lot better ROI on the RENNtorq tool they just bought....

Last day for the group buy. We've had a few additions and are sitting at a solid 13 right now. Are there a few more folks out there to get us to lowest price tier?

As indicated earlier in the thread, the tool is currently being offering at one-time only introductory pricing for the pioneers that are helping me bring this to market. Any orders after the group buy closes tonight at midnight will be @ $2,200.

Thanks for all the support so far.

John
