Default Just traded my cayman S for a 997 C2S...

I just yesterday did the deal and have a few things I will be unloading off my cayman including a set of RAU RH Wheels (20's) with PS2's (alot of tread left!) and a brand new SpeedART sport exhaust. I realize most of you check out CC and may have seen my posts there, but just in case you didnt, now you know.

If you are interested PM me or check out the soon to be posted classifieds on CC. I think I have 5 posts now...so I can put up some pics of my new ride!

Please, please post a comparision for us. When I was considering a Porsche a year ago I couldn't for the life of me decide between the Cayman S, 997S or 9974S. So I just ended up getting another M3 and an STI instead of one Porsche. I think one day I'll end up in a P-car but for right now my current situation works better for me. Anyway, I'm getting off the subject, I'd really love to hear a comparision from someone who's owned both of these cars to help me make a possible purchase decision in the future. I can't wait to see some pics also.

if your budget allows a C2S or a cayman s and you choose the cayman s. you either like a slower car or something else is wrong with you.

Or you prefer more precise handling...

It's all a matter of personal preference. I would say that the % of porsche owners that actually track their cars is pretty low. Car prep is also a large factor.

I just went from an 05 Boxster S to the 997S. I love the extra ponies in the 997S, but I definitley miss that precise agile handling....

There's not much difference between the two at the track, each has it's own strengths. Depending on the track, either could be quicker.

I had to say this, but I agree with Nobel. A 997S would be significantly faster at the track than a Cayman S. +60hp extra and a broader torque curve does not lie.

It's not as much difference as you might think, you cannot judge the relative pace of the two cars just based on HP numbers. A friend of mine is an instructor at PDE as he says neither car can get away from the other or overtake the other at Barber, regardless of which one is in the lead. I'm not trying to change anyones mind I'm just saying there's not that much difference at most tracks. Like I said, each has it's strengths and the track layout would have an impact.

And yes, the 997S has 60 more HP but it also weighs 3131 vs. 2954. 177 lbs. lighter and engine configuration do come into play when slipping around the track. Driver skill would be a big factor.

I had a Cayman S for a few months and now a 997S cab and I liked the handling of the Cayman better but the extra torque on the 997S is nice. I think the Cayman S is a better bang for the buck.
