I have only talked to a few dealers on the West Coast and they are holding the line on any discounts.

If anyone has any info to the contrary I would like to hear about it.

can't give it away??? January sales in North America put the CaymanS equal to the Cayennes. About a 1,000 units each. Yeah that's $140 Million in the Deutcsche Bank in 2006 already.

I noticed quite a few on the road. Purely from an observational standpoint, I thought that they are moving quite well. I already see almost as many as 997's.

January sales include several months of orders and builds (not to mention all the launch cars dealers got), so it may be risky to judge near future demand by January sales. On the other hand, they didn't start selling them until almost mid-month. Thus, it may be too early to draw a conclusion about how hot Cayman sales will be for the rest of the year. My guess is that the Cayman will not sell/lease as well as the Boxster did when it first came out. If so, discounts will be offered.

Just for fun, I ran a search on Auto-traders last night and found 100+ available.

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/search...95050&x=52&y=8

Many dealers seem to have multiple samples in stock. I think some will deal is the deal is real. A post on Caymanclub reported buying with $2k off withour pre-ordering.

Depends on location. Local dealer just has one in stock; it is their test drive Tip car. I got their last manual. Couple more are on the way. Dealer up north has one. Selling at MSRP for now.

I've had mine for a week and have already seen two others on the road.

I am curious what dealer it is in NJ as well. I test drove one up at Paul Miller a few weeks ago and at that point in time they were at MSRP. But he only had two or three so who knows.

I too was at Paul Miller and from what I can see they seem to be selling quite well.

In Germany in January 2006:

Cayman S: 127 (not on the market last year)
Porsche 911 (coupe): 341 (27% down on last year)
Porsche Boxster: 228 (74% up on last year)
Porsche 911 (cabrio): 296 (137% up on last year)
Porsche Cayenne: 415 (2% down on last year)

Total PORSCHE Registered JAN 2006: 1409 (21% up on Jan 2005)

I won't even try to interpret these figures......

Our dealer ordered 14 initially and when my brother bought his a couple of weeks ago, they were down to about a half dozen. One car was ordered by a customer who has to wait three more months before he can buy a car, so he said to "go ahead an sell this one" while he orders another.

Not sure about discounts, but Gregg got $1500 off on his car for "being a return customer".
