I assume the aos must be a little more robust on all .2’s because I rarely hear about failures opposed to .1’s
Agreed. I also got the impression from other people that they saw a lot more smoke than what I showed in the video, but it's only going to get worse so might as well replace it. Need to find time to disassemble it for a closer look.

Thanks! Do you mean an aftermarket AOS? Not that I looked for it but $107 for an OEM one ain't bad.
Congrats! Your car deserves another $3-5k or so, with the amount of work you dedicated to it. Beautiful car and I am bummed for not having the luxury to get into a bidding war. Now on to your next adventure!
Congrats on the sale! A .2 S with similar mileage went for a few hundred less on BaT the other day so I think you did pretty well. Would be curious to hear your thoughts on selling a car on an auction site.
It would be cool if the new owner continued your thread here!

Thanks everyone!
With regards to selling on an auction site, I really enjoyed it after selling my GTI on Cars & Bids in March. There's definitely a direct correlation between how much time you invest in the ad and the final bid. For anyone who's followed this thread, I'm sure it wasn't a surprise that I created a detailed service history video in addition to the thread. I think that went a long way in buyer confidence.
In general, you're likely not going to have as many test-drive requests with an auction and I think some owners probably don't allow that to keep the playing field fair. You know it'll end after a week with a reasonable reserve, and quite honestly the last hour was really exciting to watch! Buyers are taking on much more of a risk with auction sites but personally I wouldn't mind making a sight-unseen purchase if there's enough detailed photos, videos, and documented history. You may have noticed I showed all the scratches and imperfections which while they don't add value to the car, it proved I wasn't hiding anything.
Since I was a returning customer, it only cost me $49 to list it. But I also spent probably 10 hours on gathering all the info, taking pics/videos, and all the editing. Worth it in the end.
The new owner picked up the car last Friday night including the stock wheels (decided to inflate them as they had been sitting for over a year).
All set to go.
Lastly some film shots to close this chapter. I'll definitely be back on Rennlist in the future.
Congratulations to your auction! Great participation and great results from it. The peanut gallery/owner's efforts are what made BaT a legend and others try to imitate and improving (Carsandbids) but not all good (PCARMARKET). Hopefully, great cars like yours and great owners like you will start to make other sites better.
Your car was one I was going to purchase with or WITHOUT my spouse's blessings! However, it went above my self-controlled budget limit.

Can't wait until your next adventure here.
It's easy for me to type the words, but I too had moments where I was just going to buy this car and sort out the decision later. Lol
But I also knew that he had done such a great job framing the sale that it wouldn't be a good purchase for ME.
Honestly, I was rooting for him to get top dollar since I wasn't going to get a good deal.
Hope everyone's been well. I'm sure this will come as a surprise to no one but I'm back in a Porsche. Except this time I have back seats.
I still have the ND Miata and toyed with selling it for a 981 Boxster but ultimately decided it's just too fun, so I decided to check the 911 box. Almost ended up with a 996 C4S but the deal fell through and I found this 997.1 instead.
I look forward to following your ownership thread.
Just realized you replaced your door trim insert a few months ago (I guess I had that notification off). That's awesome! Turned out great! Have you already bought one for the passenger side?
That piece is the same in my 997 and while it's got some minor scratches, not enough to replace it. But there's a pretty bad buzzing/vibration sound coming from the driver's door so I'll be taking it off at some point to add foam.
