Stats for the North American Market
-Production start = July 2015
-Production total to date (5 months of production) = 317 Spyders
-Production end = March 2016 is the last production month for the Spyder (only 4 more months of production.
I estimate around 600 Spyders for North America (USA + Canada)! Way smaller than the GT4!!! and the 987.2 Spyder!!!

Wow... Month early??? That is awesome. Curious if you have Sofas or LWB... if the prior, that is why. You moved ahead of the line due to the LWB shortage. Hopefully you specced LWB, because that gives me hope Porsche is ahead of schedule and mine will be similar??? I can dream. This wait is killing me... 142 days for me.

Not sure my wife will like the LWB's (she complained about getting in my previous Elise, but said once in it was comfortable) but I'm sure she'll get used to them...

Woohoo! Locked my config and recv'd delivery date for Zuffenhausen in 3rd week of March. See my build at http://www.porsche-code.com/PG9QL9Z7
My SA shared some interesting news with me. He claimed there wouldn't be any further Spyder allocations beyond his original 4 slots, and that there would NOT be a MY2017 Spyder. That would make MY2016 a one-year wonder!
Don't know how much truth there is to this news; SA claims the info comes directly from PCNA. Sounded like fairly recent info. Perhaps backlash from the VWAG debacle?
He seems like a solid guy and emphasized that any future Spyder would be based on 981.2 or beyond in a few years. This would make the 981.1 Spyder an automotive unicorn... and an overnight classic. First and last naturally-aspirated, 911 engine equipped Boxster.
Wow. I'm seriously considering taking a second allocation and storing the second!

Regarding the limited allocation for 2016, it was expected. '16 is supposed to be a short run when the .2 line is switched on by May/June (forgetting the exact timeline). And, Spyder is supposed to be an end-of-the-run model, unless Porsche gets greedy!
And, don't mean to bust your enthusiasm; but, next gen GT/Spyder cars are expected to remain NA. You probably missed endless debate on this topic. There are enough indications to suggest NA engine would survive for these cars at least one more cycle. So, you might be better of waiting for 981.2 to store that "future classic"! :-)

I posted this in the wrong thread...
I screwed up my order....all the time that I had and I missed the error. It was dropped by my SA on the second of 4 iterations. I have the classic interior coming and I wanted the instrument surround in leather. Is there any way that I can do this after-market? Bums me out a bit.
