For those of you with PDK and the Porschemaster wheel, and if you came from the OEM 981 Sport Design wheel... do you find that the paddles themselves require more of a reach to access, or is it about the same? In some pictures it seems that the paddle arms on these wheels are a bit short. In other pics it looks about the same.

I'm trying to slightly de-beige my interior, and so a black wheel is on my list. I have relatively short fingers and the paddle arms on my SD wheel are a little shorter than I would like. I think I'm probably going to need to to go with the OEM 355mm "GT" wheel to get what I'm looking for, but I'm not sure I want a full 20mm reduction in diameter - there are positives and negatives to going smaller. I see that Porschemaster also offers a custom/extendable paddle kit, but it's fairly expensive for what it is, and I prefer the stock/non-adjustable look.

As a reminder, I have one of these wheels for sale, brand new...multifunction, PDK, non-heated. Willing to let it go for $375 shipped. Retailed with the airbag for $1,050 + tax. Airbag is $580 new on PorscheMaster. Save some money if you have an airbag already.

I couldn't tell a difference in reach. I would say they are the same, except the PorscheMaster paddles are just taller. I would image this makes it easer to shift while gripping at ten and two.

I opted to delete the multifunction buttons which requires the following trim pieces:
9P1-419-936-F-5Q0
9P1-419-937-F-5Q0
95B-419-938-H-5Q0
9P1-419-936-E-5Q0
9P1-419-937-E-5Q0

I believe you can source any used airbag from a 718/991.2/Macan.

Here's the final result on my car:

The OEM wheel I sourced seems to be smaller diameter than the Porschemaster wheels. It feels perfect in my hands.

Interesting.. did you also delete the PDK paddles? Which model is that wheel from?

I bought the "manual" version of the GT Sport Wheel (991-044-400-30-A34) so it didn't include paddles. I personally don't like any sort of buttons on my wheel and I had already gotten so used to shifting with the PDK **** like a sequential.

Adding a few pics from my install and *CONFIRMING* that the airbag is made in Germany.

I am sorry to spoil that idea, but the airbags are not genuine. The German text on the backside is full of mistakes.
I wrote with Porschemaster last year and he confirmed that the airbags are produced in China.

The airbag is your last defense, if something happens! Hopefully it’ll work better than it looks!

Is the consensus that these are safe or not? I just installed one.

If we were so inclined, would an OEM airbag drop right in to these wheels?

Well until a few people who installed them get into accidents, I guess we won’t know for sure how safe they are. I feel comfortable with it, but I’m not going to volunteer to be one of the test dummies.

William's answer you posted above says nothing about China (or Taiwan), but I digress.

For the sake of argument, I suppose there are two possibilities here:
  1. These are 100% counterfeit, off-label airbags that are being stickered as JSS.
  2. These are legit JSS airbags
For what it's worth, JSS makes airbags for almost every major manufacturer and has factories across the world (including China). They are one of the makers for Porsche (along with Delphi). So, it is entirely possible for these to be legit JSS airbags and also very possible that they are legitimately made in China (which is where JSS makes all their Tesla airbags).

I'm not going to blow the airbag to see if it works, but... the labeling seems to match the Panamera / Macan airbags with the same wheel.
