Late last summer I got a 16 CS to hold me up while I waited on a allocation for a GTS 4.0 , the 16 only had 7100 miles , has the PVT,PASM , ; sports chrono ,manual transmission but no sports exhaust , now is not looking like I am going to be getting that gts any time soon , how involved $$ and what parts do I need to retro fit the sports exhaust ?Thanks

I’ve owned and tracked both cars. They’re awesome.
However, I could of bought a new 911 with the amount of money I put into my 981 base cayman.
I also learned you can’t build a GT car out of a base 911.
I kept my Cayman S stock Except for track day pads, and fluids.
If a S is in your budget I would go that route.

I track a base cayman. It really breaks down like this: either you are currently, or will eventually be with enough track time, a "better" driver than a decent percentage of the field you're running with. Will you get tired of slower drivers with significantly more power passing you on every long straight and then being stuck behind them for half a lap? If the answer is anything other than "no, I really love admiring the details of the back of other people's cars up close" then just get the S. Don't get me wrong, I love my car and I'm pretty quick with it. It's pretty fun annoying GTx drivers by hanging with them and even passing them. The car is still faster than I am, and I'm one of those people who gets more satisfaction from getting the most out of the car than from the actual numbers on the speedo and lap timer. At the track, I'm never unhappy or wishing the car was faster. In between events? MOAR POWER is constantly on my mind.

There was a guy that used to come out every year to one PCA HPDE event that was held in conjunction with the PCA club races. He had an early '90's Nissan Sentra, caged and maybe some suspension mods (though maybe not), but stock engine. I think he had Nitto NT01's, but not slicks for sure. He would run in the intermediate run group. The dude could drive the crap out of that car. He would go around corners on 3 wheels, the inside back wheel would be a couple inches off the ground. Impressed the hell out of me knowing he had probably 110HP in that thing but could turn lap times faster than me in my Boxster S. Made me realize I still had a lot to learn.
