"Owner of a 15 Base, moving to a Cayman S (hopefully) for PDK, better suspension, and simply more power. The Base was fine on track, and kept up fine in the corners, but lacked straight line speed"
just add headers and an ECU upgrade and you will keep up with any S.

Yup, a base with aftermarket exhaust, exhaust, and a tune will absolutely be "S" like.

I would say base manual for street use and PDK S for track work.

Drive both and make your decision. Once I drove an S with PDK, the decision made itself.

I got a manual base with a 3.8L engine swap. Doing about 20 track days per year. Love it.
