Foxwell OBD scanner review

NT530 vs NT510
Good info. I asked Foxwell sales what the difference between the two are and was told (today) that aside from the vintage the software was identical. Guess not. I've also heard the 510 has some difficulty reading a fiber buss on the newer BMWs, and the 530 has a hardware change that fixes that problem. Foxwell sales will offer a pretty good price on either one if you ask, and they said they can place the order directly, they just need your Paypal to send an invoice to for payment. I ordered the 530 since it was only $20 more than the 510. Haven't seen the Paypal invoice yet - but expect I'll see it tomorrow.

I tried to use the NT530 to do a PDK calibration, but it failed. The function is available in the tool, and I have the latest software update, but after meeting all required criteria, and pressing the final OK, tool reported Function Terminated. Contacted Foxwell for assistance, and awaiting response.

Hi. I bought an NT530 and put all of the supported codes for Porsche models here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...it?usp=sharing
Hope this helps someone.

Foxwell posts the full list, but so far it appears suspect. I still can't run the PDK calibration, though it is on Foxwell's list. Additionally, can't get any tech support from the vendor, Foxwell, or Amazon (where I purchased it). Just looking for solid confirmation from someone that it does indeed run the calibration. If yes, I will eventually figure it out. But so far no one will answer the question.

Foxwell has an online chat that is staffed in the evenings (east coast time), and I did get someone to confirm that the NT-530 DOES NOT support PDK calibration for 987's. You may want to get in touch about 981's. I did buy an NT-530, but after playing around with it, I gave up and bought the Chinese version of the PIWIS II, and can confirm it will do the PDK calibration on 987.2's. I can also confirm it makes some scary sounds during the calibration.........

You should see two tabs at the bottom - one is for my 987, the other lists all other models and has a filter you can apply for your model.
Looks like your spreadsheet details only the 987 functions.

My need/want for 981 PDK calibration is listed, but it does not work. Wish I could get feedback from Foxwell to confirm what the issue is.

So I got to use the nt530 today and was able to clear up several errors caused by mt rear control module getting wet and fried. One specific issue is lingering though: I can't find a way to re-enable the convertible top. I can use the menu items 'Rear/Active Test/Convertible Top Opening\Closing' and it works, but I don't know how to program it back into the car so I can use the buttons. The spoiler was easy - it was listed under 'Programming/Customer Specific Settings'.
Anyone have any ideas where this might be hiding? 2010 Boxster.
NT530 came with software version 1.10.002 pre-installed - should I bother digging up a Windows machine to see if there are vital updates for it?
Also, what are 'comfort options? See attached...

So frustrated. Found the convertible option, changed it to ‘installed’. Restarted the car and it was gone and the ‘rear’ section is now disabled and the machine thinks I have a 911 now. I can choose ‘edit’ but it will not allow me to change it. Gonna try more tomorrow but otherwise I’ll just eat the cost and let the dealer do it for $150.

A few stupid videos of the menu items

I've seen a few other posts recently where people asked about changing the steering wheel, so I wanted to update this thread as well - @deilenberger updated his post and experience with this modification and the NT530 here: https://www.planet-9.com/threads/diy...lights.250412/
