I forget, but I think you're right. It's easy to find and is only on one tab.

BTW I have also noticed that some modules, when you swap them out retain a 'VIN-B' record which shows their original vehicle VIN. I haven't yet figured out what this is for, if anything...

The partnumber for the replacement control unit is 99165320312, software 1560, hardware 425, production date 08/10/12 (dmy). This information is on the sticker on the unit and also represented in vehicle analysis protocol and therefore I suspect that the unit was never updated.
The original partnumber is 99165320113, software 16.10. hardware 445, production date 21/03/13 (so relatively close compared to the replacement unit)

Indeed in extended identification. If I recall correctly the only field that can be changed.

my control unit is from 2015 what supports the idea newer version got some firmware update which could prevent sport+ activation.

if I understood correctly the replacement part (which prevented you from sport+) is actually older 10/12 in comparison with original control unit (sport+ activated) 03/13.

That is correct. I also have an even newer control unit, but that caused a lot of errors and appeared to have different hardware (more pins on the grey connector) (9P1.907.039.AG, sw v13.50, hw 120, prod date 14/11/17)

03/13.
My guess is that a replacement part (any) creates a compatibiltity issue that is not easily resolved by coded. Unfortunately the Porsche community is very small compared to BMW where much more knowledge is available on the net. With Porsche it still is very much trial and error.

That is much appreciated. You might also want to have a look a the threads that jjrichar posts on planet 9 and youtube where he is disassembling and assembling a salvage title 981. Extremely good information.

In case you need some translation help with the german language on Piwis in expert mode, then please let me know, living in the Netherlands where German classes were mandatory in highschool finaly comes in handy.

Oh wow, lots of interesting data since I last checked in here. Here's the info about my BKE unit (w/Sport+ locked out) in the interest of getting more data out there with the hope we can figure something out:

Part Number: 99165320515
Software: 1800
Hardware: 406
Production Date: 8/29/13

Not sure exactly what these two are, but I saw them in the VAL and maybe they mean something too:
SystemSupplier ECUSoftwareNumber: 05553-057
SystemSupplier ECUSoftwareVersionNumber: 0028

I feel like there's got to be some way to re-flash the units with different firmware, but I suppose it's likely it requires more tools beyond PIWIS and/or additional insider knowledge.

Just spent a couple of hours in the garage last night with my PIWIS and two different A/C control heads.

My car does not have Sports Plus installed, however the second unit is from a vehicle of the same model / options / year, which had factory Sports Plus installed and verified active.

Unfortunately the quick story is that upon programming with my VIN, I experienced exactly the same issues as reported previously. The unit shows "off" next to Sports Chrono in the Feature Activation menu, after applying my code.

This feature MUST be locked somewhere other than the PCM or the Climate Control head... but how & where?

Frustrated...!

Appreciate the efforts. I was reading more about the Sport+ issue. As this is related to a emissions wonder it has some activation on engine ECU required. My car is CPO so there is a chance SW could be updated to prevent activation Sport+.

will check my version and report.

would be interesting to know your SW version and if car was serviced by Porsche recently.

also interesting to know if people with aftermarket tune experience the same issues as their SW could be different.

let us keep working on it.

for information when OEM reports official EPA fuel economy it needs to run with all driving modes available for the driver. This is reason when driving on economy mode normally can get better numbers than values officially reported on windows sticker.

Yeah... I purchased my car about 9 months ago, and before I acquired the PIWIS. Within a few weeks I was read-ended pretty seriously at a red light. It was out of action for over 2 months at a Porsche 'Factory' shop.

The receipt, which luckily I didn't have to pay for, shows about a $300- fee for 'reprogramming' after all the body and engine work. So, yes... it was recently 'programmed'; and I am sure they included whatever 'campaigns' they felt like.

I bet even the dealers don't understand the intimate details of what they're updating when they install a 'campaign'... so we need to find some other way to sort this out.

I have limited records for my car, since I also purchased earlier this year...but from what I can tell, the ECU was last programmed in November 2018.

I didn't receive any official dealer records when I bought it, but did obtain a copy a CARFAX report that notes “Engine/powertrain computer/module checked” at a Porsche dealer in Nov. 2018. This lines up with the PIWIS VAL that notes “Coding Date” for the ECU as 11/2018 (although there's also a “Programming Date” of 12/2018?).

From what I have seen online, all the emissions stuff came up in 2020. The car did see a dealer in Jan. 2020, but there's no notes that indicate any programming was done at that point (although that doesn't really mean much, since again, I don't have any official dealer records, just the CARFAX, which is known to be pretty limited and also contain errors).

This is all very interesting and I'm curious what more data might reveal.

I checked my DME which as SW version W06C30C1348UD20
Porsche number 98161863222
HW number 99161860203

If you could check the information on your DME we can try to understand if that has any impact.
