It really does make the interior look newer!
I'll search it up, but is there specific years/models the new wheel needs to come from for this?

jlappppp, I believe that the steering wheels are fairly universal. I watched a video where someone put one out of a Cayenne into their Cayman or Boxster. You just have to make sure it has the options you need, like paddles for a PDK, controls for radio, or heated wheel. You can get adaptors to add the electronics if you don't currently have them but want them. Mine was a manual with no controls and I wanted to keep the cleaner, buttonless wheel. Mine is actually an aftermarket steering wheel. I bought it from Porschemaster.com. I am really happy with the fit, finish, and feel of it. I paid $950 for it, and I can probably get most or all of that back by selling my old one.

Default Went Drag Racing at Orlando Speedworld

Decided to head over to Orlando Speedworld Cars, Coffee, and Drags.

Also decided to race after chatting with the owner / manager at the gate - seeing her newish, beautiful 911 Turbo S Cabrio.

I have done both track days and autocross back in the day, and fully understand purists will balk here at drag racing - that these cars are not built for it. But fact is I had loads of fun and lots of the "tuner" crowd stopped by to chat and asked questions about my 981 CS. Total cost for unlimited runs was $25.00, so a cheap morning.

Tech inspection folks insisted I wear a helmet as they said a 981 S is a "under 13 second car"

Reaction times were crappy - have not run a car on the strip for over 20 years - last time was my '93 325is (best 1/4 mile 14.2 sec) and my Suzuki 1200 bugeye bandit streetfighter (best 1/4 mile 10.98 sec)

I used sport plus, launch control - absolutely flawless. Ran four "fun runs" and beat my opponent three times - two mustangs and a g37 infiniti - last run was against a late model Nissan GTR and got smoked.

Ran 1/4 mile @ 12.896, 12.928, 12.982, and 13.001 all around 107 MPH top speed. Guessing 85 degrees F and 80% humidity so not ideal internal combustion conditions. For comparison, the GTR that beat me ran an 11.159 @ 127.20 - I think Turbo S, GT3 territory.

I finally BROUGHT MINE HOME! Full PPF, ceramic, then began adding the bits I've collected while waiting:

Zumsport grills
Radar mirror tap and windshield mount
Cell mount
GT4 shifter
Frunk and cargo liners
Stick on rear plate mounts from Pokes
Caliper studs.
Then this weekend, full tune up including plugs, serpentine belt, all filters and fluids.

Then. WE DRIVE! Car only has 9k miles. That will change!

I've been debating this one too. Did it include a new airbag too?

I have one that I bought. I kept the airbag, and I have the wheel up for sale. I bought a used OEM wheel off eBay. The Porschemaster one is good for the price. It has an authentic core with aftermarket wiring, trim, buttons and vegan/fuax leather. I like the authentic leather for that butter smooth feel. The faux leather is grippier and feels nice, and the buttons feel 80-90% of an OEM wheel, but it just was off enough in quality that I decided to put it up for sale and get the authentic/OEM thing. Plus, I realized the GT-style bolted-on plastics was a bit too aggressive for my tastes.

Also, I bought the GPSadapter so my sport chrono 981 has multifunction now, and I set the joker key using PIWIS. It is nice to have controls. Makes huge difference.

How did the PDK shift paddles feel?

The PDK paddles are metal, solid, feel nice, pull nice. They are higher/lower, as you can see, which could be nice for a more aggressive look and are probably easier to pull mid turn. They feel OEM in terms of quality. No complaints there.

Vegan leather is grippier, feels like leather, but not the butter-soft, premium leather of the OEM wheels. It has a more full grain feel, while feeling thinner like OEM vegan/faux leather wheels.

Buttons and scroll work and aren't tacky/cheap, but they are a bit more economy class versus premium class in tactility.

Chrome pieces are not the shiniest chrome, but they are shinier than OEM. The OEM chrome looks a bit more like unfinished polished like maybe 5000 grit, but the chrome pieces on this wheel are just a tad shinier. Not quite classic car bumper mirror shiny, but just a fraction more.

Again, you have to be a little OCPD like me to notice or care. For the price for a brand new wheel and to upgrade the interior, most won't have any complaints, as long as they understand what they are buying.

I'm selling mine for $450 obo shipped. Paid $1149.13 for airbag/wheel/tax. William at PorscheMaster can get you a new airbag or someone can buy one on eBay. I'm trying to find out what the airbag would go for from William.

Someone just started a thread about Porschemaster steering wheels. We should probably move the conversations about them there, so it is all together for everyone interested. That way we won't pound this thread with it where it will be hard to find in the future, and we won't bother the hundreds of people who subscribe to this one and don't care about the steering wheels. The people posting on that thread are looking for this exact information.

o remind of another option for a steering wheel. This is my Sport Design steering wheel, modified by Ledermanz in Latvia. The look, ergonomics and *feel* in person is absolutely fantastic. It is better than anything I've seen in supercars. All my friends are envy

I highly recommend upgrading the steering wheel to the newer model. I replaced mine with the Alcantara SW from a 991.2 GTS with MF and SC dial. I also replaced the stock paddle shifter with the CF magnetic ones. It's my favorite mod I've done to my car together with the GT3 Steering wheel calibration. 👌

Is there a write-up you have for the steering wheel upgrade?

I did not make one. It's basically 991.2 SW with the adapter X to make the SC dial and MF work. The click on each shift is very satisfying. It's the same shifter that is on the 992 gt3rs. And with CF trim and blacked out vents(shout out to emosgarage), it def improved the looks of the interior. I'm also planning to replace my door cards with Alcantara panels w/ door straps from a GT4 to complete the look.
