Drove against a bunch of Corvettes ta the SCCA Bristol National Tour! Sucked on Sat, but had a pretty solid final run on Sunday that made me think this car really can compete in A-Street. At least until the 718 CS start showing up in numbers

Installed PSE in my Cayman S. I’ve been waiting 2 years for them to get back in stock. It was the main option that my car didn’t have that I really wanted. I also added some sound deadening to reduce road noise while I had the interior torn apart for the wire and vacuum hookups.
I did the programming myself with the Thinkdiag.
Total time was about 8 hours. The hardest part was installing the mufflers and rear brace all at once without a helper.
Less road noise, more exhaust noise. I’m a happy man.

One big box with all the parts needed. Includes mufflers and new center console with all switches.

Driver’s seat and everything behind it pulled out. This is before I added more sound deadening material to the rear deck and everything around the rear tires.

I owe a lot of thank yous to so many people on this site for help with everything, from letting me know they were back in stock, to installation instructions, to troubleshooting, to programming. Without this great community of owners that use this site and pass on their experiences, this job would have been a lot harder to tackle.

Can you elaborate on the sound deadening around the tire areas?

I just used a Dynomat type of material and covered the bare metal surfaces around the rear wheel wells. I took out the cubby holes behind the seats and covered those metal areas under the foam that Porsche uses. I also did all the surfaces that I could behind the wheels in the trunk area. Used a 1/4" foam in that area also, but it made it harder to fit the carpet back in due to the thickness. On the right side, I went behind the electronics the best that I could. I did the back side of the plastic wheel arches while I had the tires off also. I didn't apply any to the metal on the outside of the car in the wheel arches directly as I have seen others do because I was worried that if moisture ever got behind it, it would get trap in there and possible start to rust. I had previously done the door panels, which not only helped with road noise but also enhanced the speaker sound quality.

Cubby hole on right side.

Cubby hole on left side.

Trunk with silver pieces on small areas and large black piece on trunk base. You can also see the matte black foam on the side behind the wheel.

Fixed muffler that burned through right where pipes go into the muffler cans. On both sides it cracked around those pipes and almost fell off! Took it off the car and welded, with some reinforcement. Should be good for another 80k. Than took some pictures and a drive into town

With a big brother and 12 years younger cousin. Still looks great.

I don't know... I'm pretty sure matte texture is on the inside of the film. Since PPF wrap, it's easiest car to wash ever. Just quick wash, than dry with microfiber towel, done. And unlike shiny black - dirt doesn't show on matte, so car looks clean much longer

Installed new floor mats from Suncoast to match the Guards Red exterior. Shampooed the carpets first and extracted a satisfying amount of dirt.

Thanks for that. I'm doing a speaker upgrade soon and need to take on this sort of project.

The wheels are 808-series wheels, bought immediately to replace lobster claws stock wheel, 12 years ago. I think they called something different now, but still selling.
GlasWerks DMV in DC refinished those wheels to new condition in Antracite color with red stripe. Stripe is the same color as calipers, but looks a bit different, because of matte finish on the wheels, unfortunately. They also installed matte PPF and Antracite stripe on top of it. And previously black crest was also refinished in same color. All that done this spring. Very pricy, but I basically got a new car.

And I also refinished headlights in winter to paint inside black, and new cover(lens?) installed. Than PPF was added on top of that. Blacked headlights really add a lot to the look.

Car also has a modified Cayman bumper, instead of usual Boxster smile, if nobody noticed

Are you saying that your car is painted gloss black and has matte PPF to make it look like that? I didn't realize they could do that. It looks great! I wonder how that would look on other colors.

I noticed the Cayman bumper right away, but mainly because I saw the writeup you did when I was looking for ideas to lose the round DRLs on my Cayman.

Yes, the car is black, and the wrap is transparent, and should last way way longer than simple vinyl wrap, that is very thin and looses color fast. they had to paint mirrors and door handles, as PPF is not as flexible as vinyl. I think it looks great on all colors. I've seen cars in the shop, and they all look great. They have pictures on their site/google

The one ugly spot on the car was my crazed passenger headlight lens. That's no more. About 2 1/2 hours and some eBay lenses had me back in business. I'd say it's a 9 out of 10. Previous with the crazing was a -1 out of 10.
