Met another 968 Owner Out of the Blue
I was in Orlando this week at an industry meeting, I'm in the commercial nuclear power business as a vendor.
Was out to dinner with a customer who works at the Oyster Creek nuclear plant in Forked River, NJ, I had actually met him about 6 months ago at a seminar we give in CT at a company I represent that he attended.
We're sitting next to each other, he's a really enjoyable person to talk to, and towards the end of dinner I tell him I've gotten back into cars in the past few years and I bought a 968 last summer.
He says, "968, what year?"....I tell him a 93, he says "I have a 93 968"!
He has a cab that he bought about 1.5 years ago or so from a guy in CA, he got it for something like $9K and it had 80K miles. It was for sale for a long time, started at $18K or so.
He knows the guys down at the RS barn, and were even talking about "the other forum" and some of the "personalities" of it. Too funny, small world to say the least.
The next morning he emailed me pictures of his black cab, and I recognized the pictures, as one had his daughter standing in front of the car with some type of sporting equipment on, she has shin guards on in the picture.....I was like, I have seen that picture before on line!
It was a great experience. Most people don't even know what a 968 is.

I've gotten into conversations about mine with random people. One from a guy who just inherited a 356. Another from a flower delivery guy. But the funniest one went something like this as I was walking out of a Dunkin' Donuts one morning:
(from about 5 cars away): Hey, is that a 944?
Me: No. It's a 968
Him: Oh, I thought it was a Porsche

I had a similar experience. Was on the other side of Atlanta for a meeting and was in the 968. I saw the distinctive round headlights behind me and figured it was probably a Miata As I pulled into the parking lot they followed me in and it turned out to be another black 968 coupe. Met a really nice fellow 968 owner named Victor who said he just had to follow me a bit to make the connection.

Paul - so the owner lived in NJ? Or in Orlando?
I can think of at least 6 968 owners that I know of in Orlando. Plus another from Tampa and of course odurandina from the Melbourne area.
Here's a cool shot from last year, including a few of those guys.
From left to right: Josh B (Atlanta), Gary S (Orlando), Gary M (Orlando), Josh M (Tampa), Alan D (Melbourne), Jeremy M (Orlando)
