Trevor,
Very cool, but I have to admit, I always get a little suspicious when one of these historically significant vehicles is "suddenly found" in a undisclosed location. It happens all the time in the muscle car world.

"found" is a loose term too. It's missing a whole lot of the original automobile

Read the turbo thread. It's amazing how people that own these cars think about one of their own.

Trev,

You should see how bad things are in the muscle car world. So many rare cars that were beat up and raced back in the day are suddenly "discovered" in surprisingly great shape. You can take a beat up Hemi 'Cuda which was formerly raced, swap the numbers and a few other things over to a 318 Barracuda and suddenly, you've got a $250K muscle car!!!

Whenever the story behind how a significant car like this survived 100 year is not disclosed you have to wonder.

Sorry for the pessimism but you know what they say about "if it sounds too good to be true...."

I hope they release the story behind the vehicle.

At least this one would be easy to swap the numbers on, assumedly there's just a single digit!?

I too believe if this was real, it probably would have never left the museum/factory. Cool find, and curious to see the confirmed results.

I would guess the results are confirmed, since Porsche bought it and they are displaying it in the museum this month.

Apparently you're the only person to read the full article.

Hopefully they'll share that info. It would be interesting to hear. My favorite has always been the Bugatti at the bottom of the French lake for 80 years. Do you know that one? Google it. Amazing.
