Default Current Market Value of Factory LSD

Here's a question. Assume two identical diamond condition '94 cabs, one with LSD and one without. What's the difference in price (value to the knowledgable market) between the two? Any ideas?

Here's some additional info that Jeff posted in another thread:
Of the 1,447 North American 6-speed cabs, only 300 or 20.73% had LSD
The 92's had the ZF unit, 93-95 had the Torsen.

Depends. Are you selling the car? Buying it? Buying it to part it out?

If the car has other desirable options (i.e. sport seats, M030) then LSD can make a difference of a grand or two or even more. Otherwise it could be the difference of making a sale or not.

I'd guess $500 and often you might not actually get any difference as most probably don't know/care about the lsd. I'd expect a slightly larger delta for coupes (more likely to be tracked where the LSD is more likely to be important). The M030 goes for quite a lot more than standard, partially because it's a fairly comprehensive package and mostly, I think, due to the rarity and cache.

I just purchased a cab in amazing condition (you were in my wheels & tires thread, thanks again!), but had been considering a few alternatives. I ended up getting the one with the LSD.

I'm with ya on the M030. To bad they didn't offer cabs with that package because they felt the torsional rigidity wasn't there to begin with. Perhaps I'll upgrade eventually anyway.

I like how ramius665 put it. For me it was a deal breaker, I wouldn't have purchased it otherwise. To me it was worth at least $2k because (e.g os giken) of the cost and labor to install.

Do you have a thread on your new cab? Lets hear details!

installing LSD is one of the most labor intensive jobs you can do on these cars.

you have to take the transmission off the car and then, completely apart.

and when your installer has dug down that far, he's going to call and tell you,

"it would be a mistake not to do a rebuild, including replacing the chewed up third gearset."

Of the 1,811 North American 968 6 spd coupes 584 or 32% had 220 LSD.

As we know. LSD was not standard on the M030 coupes. That said 76 (or 77%) of the 98 6 spd M030 coupes had 220 LSD.

I will start the "reveal" thread once I have it. But I will say here that it's a one-owner, garage-kept specimen in incredible condition. I can't wait to get it and officially rejoin the 968 family!

Look forward to the reveal! I know you mentioned in another thread about a bunch of parts you've already accumulated. It's funny because I did the same.

I've always had a soft spot for the cabs

On another note... does anyone know (practically or technically speaking) the difference between the ZF and and Torsen units? Is one considered better than the other? I'm a proud owner of a ZF

LOL: try this.

Personally, I can't imagine driving one of these cars without some kind of limited-slip.

Me too, man. A 968 Speed Yellow cab was my first Porsche. Now I'm getting back into the game and I can't wait to drive it again.
