not me... 570 hp at the flywheel and completely normal driveability here we come.
and no nasty pickup truck exhaust note.... no choppy idle....
cuz why should 911T/GT2/GT3/Carrera GT owners have all the fun ?

Watched a neighbor hacksaw the center section out of a Vette split window coupe so he could install the "new style" single rear glass. He cut thousands out of the retail price (we wouldn't know until later). A lot of 914-6's were hot riddled to, now the prices are climbing at a pretty clip. When are you headed to Charlie town?

Have you done it? Are you there yet? Have you heard or sat in a modded 968? Until you have done either, I would say.....

Raj, I have driven one with an LS3. Very impressive and almost mild mannered while moving through traffic, but with a wild side when you stepped into it. But I've never raced an MGB!

I like our little 4 bangers and know what their potential is.
If I were to want to go an 8 cylinder route, I would try a mustang 5.0 with the 4 valve head making 444hp in the current gen. Not sure if the hood would clear the engine though.
Regards.

Raj,
if i had the money and raw wrenching skill, and the intelligence of timing it just right as you did... (as spare parts were becoming scarce) and i were ever to have become the beneficiary of anything even close to what you've got in your your garage.... i would do things likewise — and not drive it much.
i might also pick up another 968 that's not of a particularly colectable color.... and turbocharge it.... only, w/ this one. i might not fuss with it much (other than the typical odurandina hack-up-the-car stuff), but not anywhere near the endless mods that would bring it close to a factory Turbo S car...
with this one, i'd drive it every day...
the car that sold at auction the other day may represent the most money ever spent on a four cylinder car... there surely aren't many supercars running four cylinder engines, but that, surely is one... the Esprits, and the 944s and '68 turbos are the only ones i can think of that even come close....
with a swapped in V8 i get a car i can drive more... putt down the secondary roads, and interstate highways at 2,400 rpm. and have some serious power and torque on demand in reserve without the semi-exotic personality of a typical Porsche engine... i'm debating back and forth about having a bored and stroked LS3 done vs/ just a crate motor with a mild cam... on top of that, the parts list is quite extensive... for me, bordering on mind-numbing....
but progress is being made.
i'll post the parts list within a few days.

OD, it takes more than just timing it right. It takes stepping up when the moment comes. My car did not have all the exotic parts, but when the opportunities came, I opened my wallet and went out on a limb. And to top it off, I try to remain humble and modest. I don't believe in bragging and am not particularly fond of braggers.
Just my .02 worth.

This is great news for the front engine Porsche community and it lays the foundation for the future collectability of our cars. I know we don't own them for that reason but it is much easier to justify the ownership and investments (to your better half ) when the cars are shown to hold their value and even appreciate. Some will pooh-pooh the front engine cars (even some current owners) so I'm glad this auction showed some real world money being put down on these cars. They have all the other elements of a future collectible, specifically the 968: very rare, built by Porsche (hand built in Stuttgart), well sorted (the final evolution of their breed), timeless looks, racing history (limited), a power plant that was technically advanced and falling into more flavor today with rising gas prices, and a strong mother company which is still around and synonymous with performance. Long live the 968!!!

very cool thanks for posting!
To OD, i have to say that while ive been heard to say that i'd like more power from time to time, at the end of the day im very happy with my car's engine in relatively stock trim. Nothing says performance like twin cam (remember when that was all you needed to say to get the blood pumping?) and variable timing of 4 valves per cylinder... not to mention having 3.0 liters of displacement...
That being said i wouldn't turn down an even trade with Raj

OD, I didn't exactly say that. But to be honest, what do you expect? You constantly come here, to a 968 forum and sit there talking crap about our engines. You expect sympathy? To add, you also seem to be be running the same engine. All this talk about chevy, is all talk so far....
