I recently had a conversation with Alex K from Fabspeed about developing a high quality exhaust system for our cars. Fabspeed is interested in developing such a system, depending on interest. This post is to guage interest on how many people would be seriously interested in such a system.
System will be T304 16 guage stainless steel and will be mandrel bent for maximum flow and include their Maxflo Muffler design (nice sound without being too loud).
It's too early to determine price, but the system should be competitively priced. If there is enough interest, we might even be able to setup a group buy as well.
This is all dependent on how many people are interested in such a system. Goals for this system are: No loss of power/power gain, lighter weight and a better sound.
Fabspeed has been developing exhaust systems for Porsches for a long time and are well known amongst Boxster and 911 crowd. Fortunately, Fabspeed is also a Rennlist sponsor.
If they do plan to go ahead, they will document a baseline, any gains from the system etc and share the entire development process with the group.
Let me know what you guys think.
Thanks.

I'm going to buy a new cat-back for my 968 this autocross season so I'd be in line to see what they come up with. Some important features for them to get right are:
Lightest weight possible [ie. no resonator]
No 'drone' or resonance in cabin
Under 92 db for race tracks with sound restrictions
No mid-range torque loss
More hp really isn't necessary IMO, but a true before-after dyno comparison showing even 3-5 hp would be icing on the cake
Dual exhaust tip option like 968 Turbo S would be unique and quite nice

I've have interest in it, but might need to know more. Including the ease or difficulty in installation, cost, resulting sound, hp gain, etc. I'd love more ummph in the sound & the hp/torque. My '85 928 has an Xpipe w/o cats. My wife doesn't care for it, says its too loud. So I'd have to have some idea regarding the end sound to make sure I didn't get resistance to it.

When I spoke with the manager, they were open to ideas and wanted to guage the market. That is why I setup a feeler thread. I specifcally spoke to them about high performance cats and they do sell plenty of those. I am hoping there is enough interest and we can go ahead with it.
So, if you are even on the fence or have other ideas, please feel free to share them. As far as tips, that is a piece of cake for them. They currently supply exhaust tips already.

If they are looking into cats as well then it's important to me that they produce a modular system. Ie. if I want to buy the cat-back now and the cat pipe later [or never] then the Fabspeed cat-back would have to be compatible with the stock cat pipe.

I am sure that wouldn't be a problem. I also want it to match factory clearance in case they build a complete system that includes the cat. It should be able to clear under chassis brace and be modular as you suggested.

I have a Fabspeed exhaust on my 968. I wll try to ge some pics. Also video when I have the car out next. I have talked to Fabspeed about it before and they do have some records for it. I purchased it from a rennlister who lived not far from Fabspeed.
