Amazon Green Metallic. It looks more blue in pics than it actually is. What's weird is the clear coat isn't clear, it's green. Where the clear coat has peeled, the paint itself is blue. Not sure if that's how Porsche painted it or if it's been repainted but its a unique color that's for sure. But it won't stay that color. Future plans include a Maritime Blue CS clone...

Maybe not today - but two weekends ago a few local friends from Vegas road-tripped across Angeles Crest, CA33, PCH all the way up to San Mateo for the Radwood show. Epic drive.

Getting it ready for a trip up to the Blue Ridge Parkway and Tail of the Dragon.

I'm a little worried about driving it from FL to NC/TN.

Default a Trip to New Hampshire tracks with the 968

This past weekend was a blast. My buddy encouraged me to join him and a few other great men on a trip to New Hampshire. We went to New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Friday with SCDA and then to Club Motorsports in Tamworth with Mass Tuning on Saturday. I found another 968 at the SCDA event - we had met before but we got some nice photos this time. The photos here are done by Ayyggss photography who was traveling with us and also driving on track.

At New Hampshire Motor Speedway:

Two 968s being enjoyed!

The view from behind the flag station at Turn 6 - Club Motorsports in Tamworth New Hampshire. If you track your car and haven't been to Club Motorsports, it's worth the trip. It's a really cool track with very step elevations. Only a few years old and still under development.

Who doesn't like twisties? Looks great

My only regret on tight hairpins being the lack of the M220 LSD option with my Sport. Think I need to get one!

An LSD was next on the list for my 968 Sport before I sold it.. Had a Quaife unit in a box ready to bolt it..

Have to say that a few Garages/Specialists I spoke to were reluctant to install it for me..!!

You still have the Quaife unit? What replaced the Sport?

I've stuck with the advice, experience and knowledge from EMC Motorsports who build and race support endurance racing 944's/968's. Really helpful guys over the phone from the smallest tips to the heavy technical engine and transmission rebuilds and improvement suggestions. https://emcmotorsport.co.uk/

Sold the Quaife with the Car..! But it was this one:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/202681610449

FYI They accepted an Offer of £966..

I bought an '01 996 C4.. Manual, Non Sunroof, Arctic on Black, MO30 Chassis, Hartech Rebuild.. Absolutely love it, despite a kaputt Throttle Position Sensor currently rendering it undriveable..!

Hmm.. added the diff to my watch list. Good to know an acceptable price. A Hartech 996 engine rebuild is as good as you can get imho. Nice..

When I did my tranny over a couple of years back I installed a Guard GT LSD. I feel that it has been very good in the car.

To answer Yogii's question of who is faster. It's really harder because there are no apples and apples out there really. My 968 is highly developed - a full on race car with a 11.5:1 compression motor, super stiff suspension, etc. Mark's 968 is a streetable track car - he drove it to the track from Boston. I'm also a more experienced driver, but Mark has plenty of days in also. We were never on track together at this event, and I don't time myself so we will just have to leave the answer to such a question as open for now. Another apples to oranges comparison is my 968 and my friend's three cars: a Nissan GT-R (the fastest), a Civic Type-R (the middle) and a very used 1999 Miata (the slowest). The GT-R and its driver are pretty consistently the fastest package on any given DE track day. This Miata needs some motor work - my friend recently bought it and is just having fun with it as is, which is totally great but it feel way down on power versus my other Miata experiences.

Kudos to you for bringing the 968 to the track. I am not far from both of those tracks. How do you think the 968 performed at those venues?

I have a Guard GT in my S2. Prior to that I had the Guard Torque Biasing, i.e., Torsen type. It was Ok but I much prefer the true LSD, especially if you are taking your car to the track.

The 968 makes a great track car. In my case, my car is very developed, but any 968 that is in good shape is wonderful to drive on the track. New Hampshire Motorspeedway has some good corners and some bad corners. Club Motorsports is ALL good and the car handled that really excellently. There are cars out there that are faster (vettes, camaros, GT-R, etc.) and there are cars that handles low and medium speed corners better (track prepped Miatas, Lotus Exige), but I'm very happy in the 968. It is a great balance of just enough power and very superb handling. I've driven 991's, Caymans also and I am happier with the 968. I like that the weight is front and back because the car rotates lower than the mid and rear engined cars and I have a better chance of reacting to the car in time. If you have the chance to get in a track day with your local club and you've never done it, I highly recommend it. Start with autocross if you want lower risk and lower speed - skills are best learned at autocross event to be honest. Then find a track near you and go for it. If you are in the Northeast there are many to choose from. My favorites in order are: Watkins Glen, Club Motorsports, Palmer, Lime Rock, Thompson - all are excellent and worth a visit.
