there should be a credit card distance between the lower balance shaft sprocket and the balance shaft idler.

Or so a 0.5 mm feeler gauge slides freely in that gap. Here’s mine after being set with the tension adjuster hex nut now in the correct down and in position as advised here.

Here's what mine looks like after the last attempt. So far so good after ~30 miles.

Kingroon,

The wiper delete plug pictured on your car is the nicest one I have ever seen. My rear wiper motor just fried last weekend, so I just happen to be in the market for a plug now. Can you tell me where you got this one, it looks very nice?

Are those three bulbs the Cluster illuminating bulbs..? All but the far right one are gone [making sticking to the Speed Limit trickier at night..!] and need replacing..

Is removing the Cluster a tricky job..? Steering Wheel off presumably..?

The illumination was dim to the point of having to squint to see anything at night! Yes the three big bulbs are the illumination. Plan is replace every bulb, indicator lamps the lot. It’s actually pretty easy to remove the cluster I was expecting it to be more fiddly. No the wheel doesn’t have to come off, I took mine off because it needs repositioning , alignment off. There are screws inside the cluster surround and one going thru from the panel below you need to remove. Then take the plastic surround out of the dash. You need to undo two further screws holding the vent moulding at the left side of the cluster, it then moves enough so you can get all four cluster screws out. Then carefully disconnect the cables by pushing the plastic levers out. It comes out no big problem. Disassembly is obvious, screws at rear including 4 straight screws into speedometer. Be very careful not to touch or damage any pointers, I used foam with a cutout to place my removed speedo.
