Default air bag light, on, then off, then on????

The air bag light comes on, then it goes off, now it is back on again. Any thoughts on an intermittent problem like this? Thanks

A worn ignition switch can cause intermittent problems like this, oddly enough.

Never mind Allan, what you need is to find someone with a (Bosch Hammer tool) they will be able to reset it.Now I want that ride lol.Seriously that is the only way to do it apart from disabling both air bags (which is easy) but knowing you I don't think you want to do that.

Thanks Ernie, but the car has already been to the dealer once where it was "cleared" a few months ago. What do you think is going on here? Would the tool tell what the issue is and if a new part is needed? Is there a sensor for the airbag?

BTW, free rides to anyone who wants to stop by

Yep there are a couple of sensors- here's a link to the airbag parts diagram

Hope it's not the control unit. $$$$$$$$$$

1. Had an airbag light issue with our 968, bought the Durametric tool (worked Great!) and cleared the code. But it also tells WHICH sensor is causing the code as well. It's a bit spendy (~$325?) but it's worth it the first time you don't have to go to the dealer to clear a code.

2. Minta and I are definitely going to take you up on that ride!

Jeff - I had an issue where when I first started the car the air bag light would stay on for a bit before it went off. Stayed on longer some times than others. Had it put on computer and didn't find any issues.
I read somewhere that a weak battery may cause odd problems with air bag. I replaced battery as it was border line, and so far so good. The light comes on and goes off within a few, where prior it would stay on as long as 5 mins before going off.

928s can be a bit notorius for air bag faults(ask me how I know).

Here's a link to a recent detailed discussion about the sensors being the cause: https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...29-3229-a.html

Or worst case, you could get a "Control Unit Defective"(Air Bag ECU Failure) result when running the diagnostics(again, ask me how I know)
