design 1 short shifter
I installed the short shifter from Design 1 Racing - http://www.design1racing.com/ - the other night, only took about an hour, seems to work very nicely. They adjust the length of the shifter with washers, I used 1 out of 3 ( none being most conservative, 3 most radical change ) and so far I like the results. Seems like a well designed and nicely finished product ( came with new ball cup, bushings, and rubber shifter pads ). Anyone else have experience with this item ?

great product. I installed both the Design 1 Short Shift Kit (the washers make a significant diff. imo) as well as a 944Racing Short Shift Kit in the rear. When combined, my shift throws are very honda-esque (very very short).

Agree with Raj. While I do have a Kokeln short shifter in my race car, it's probably an unnecessary mod, even for the racer. The factory shifter is so nice and smooth and the difference (viz., shortened) travel distance of the shifter is so small, that you'd do better to spend your money on something else for car/self (same thing, no?).

I absolutely loved the ssk that I had in my honda civic many years ago. Hated the two different ssk that I had in my 951. Stock was better for the Porsche in my opinion.

Here's the way I did it. Factory shift linkage on the transaxle. No issues, nice and smooth, quiet and no play in the shifter anymore.
