Default Battery dead

I need help in getting the rear lid open on a cab. The battery is completely flat and will not open electrically so that I can get to it.
I cannot seem to open it with the key either.

Any suggestions appreciated.
Thanks.

Costa.

Just to fill everyone in.

I usually hang around in the 993 forum (formerly bouzoukikid) and have become a fully fledged member under my name.

I bidded on a beautiful 968 cab tiptronic at auction today without even hearing it run as the battery was totally flat. BOUGHT AS SEEN. Either brave or stupid. The wife wasn't happy thats for sure.
I was thinking of maybe using a trickle charger to get the rear lid mechanism open and replace the battery, will that work?

NOT GOING SLEEP TONIGHT. Bag of nerves at the moment.

If I can get her started, she'll be home tomorrow and I'll have some pics.

Thanks
Costa

Someone with a cab should be able to confirm, but I'm pretty sure there is a release cable accessable behind the vent grill in the driver's door jamb.

You could also use a cigarette lighter battery charger as well, most auto parts stores have them. It won't charge the battery totally, but enough to pop the trunk.

Many thanks.
I have purchased a cigarette trickle charger, hopefully that will supply enough power to pop the trunk.

Thank you.
I've read that there may be a cable behind an oval plastic grille. Hopefully that will do the trick.

I'm still going to have a nervous evening (uk time), worrying what else could be wrong.

Hello, I read in the 968 Forum that you can remove the driver side Fog Light Housing and there is a WIRE PULL for the Hood Latch to open it. Baring that if you can open the Driver Door the lower rear vent can be removed (has tabs) and there is a WIRE PULL behind it for the trunk. Bare in mind I have not actually done this myself. I hope one or the other helps.

Cheers,
Larry

I guess your battery is in the trunk. For the rear, you will need to open the plastic vent that is inside the door jamb. Inside, you will find the cable to pull the release. For hood, there is a cable behind the black plastic grill in the bumper, which pulls out.
Good luck.

Thanks everyone. The auction house managed to get the lid open this morning before I got there. I have now found the cable as mentioned here, and will probably come to my rescue in the future.
Regards to all.

Here is a link to my new car with some photos. I shall post some here also
