Default Sorry to say....1993 Coupe ******SOLD*****

She's been a blast to own, but its time for me to move on.

The good - completely gone through last fall, new clutch, belts, plugs, variocam pads/chain, etc etc etc. 993 style wheel, Promax chip, 17 inch 993 Cup II.
beautiful shape - looks new from 10 feet - the usual dings, bumps chips up close. HK Traffic Pro Stereo

The Bad:
has gummy starter syndrome - needs refresh or replace.
airbag wires need re-crimping - or I may sell with 968 airbag/wheel
drivers side speaker has static
temp gage contact is loose - accurate, but loose.

Im not all that interested in fixing the airbag and starter so price is modestly negotiable "as is"

I would love to moth ball her but wifey says she must go.

PM me for more/higher res pictures.

Sorry to hear the 968 is moving on.
The incoming Targa sounds interesting though.

Wasn't there a 996 mention recently on FB?

Shamus, I completely understand you wanting to move on. Its normal for most, while sacrilege for a few. I can see myself doing the same. I do get tired of things easy and have even toyed with the idea of eventually selling the turbo. I don't think I would have ever considered that 6 months back.
I wish you the best. You have a nice car and hopefully it will find a good home. You have been very honest in your description and issues.
Good luck again.

If anyone is interested let me know with a reasonable offer - the targa arrives tomorrow and if I don't sell the 968 this week I will put her away for the winter and relist in the spring. (and hope by then keeping 2 porsches proves to be something wifey has grown to live with)

Other than the two minor issues disclosed this car needs nothing and has always been well maintained.

How many miles and how much did you get for it? If you don't want to disclose publicly, can you PM with details? Selling my m030 has not been easy in this market!

Thanks Raj, as you know it was well cared for and I think offered at a very fair price.
Trevor, sent you PM - got what I was looking for and didn't need to make the small repairs needed and she is out of the garage in time for the targa to arrive, so all in all I am very happy. Also sold locally so no shipping or transport to deal with. With more time, no nitty issues and without winter approaching I think I would have got my asking price. I never went to flea bay or other national markets - only here and local craigslist.

Finally when I compare what I paid for her and the years of enjoyment, it is all very good.

I wont be far and will check in. Greatly appreciate all the help and friendship over the years.

I see the title now says "SOLD".
Did the car stay in the Rennlist 968 family? Can you say who/where the car ended up with?

BTW, I really like the 99x Targas ... obviously a fan of the 993 (really enjoy my wife's), but the utility of the hatchback added to the 996/997 makes them much more utilitarian.
I'm sure you know that a fellow P!g Pen member, the beloved forum Bartender, has a 996 Targa.

Just keep an eye on those 996 wet sump motors, RMS, IMS, etc...
Styling issues aside, the 997 Targa 4s is as close to the 'only have on Porsche' as they've ever come IMHO.

Best of luck with the new car
