thanks Donn.
thanks Ethan.
thanks. I assume you're asking about the 3.0 vs LSx motor.
about 25 lbs additional weight (for the v8) give or take. but they're installing a Mustang Hydro-boost master... so that might add a few more lbs.
but, i've taken some weight off with the popup headlamp delete to 993 lamps.
also hoping to do a lightweight hood in the near future.
thanks Bruce!!
ok, i'm sure you all will think i'm seriously gay for mentioning it, but i never much liked black logos over blue paint.
actually, i've never much liked black (or grey/polished aluminum option) over many of our awesome 968/911 colors.
i think it looks cheap on the late 911s, GT3's, etc too..... anyway, i wanted to make a 968 GT rear deck-lid emblem in chrome.
chrome? yeah!! I think they look really good in many of our favorite colors....
Porsche used to do chrome, but, then they backed away from it for a while. i wish they had kept it.
a dealer told me that Porsche had many requests to bring back chrome deck-lid emblems for years, so a few years ago, they did just that.
*i also like a very thin veneer of gunmetal over chrome, but i'm doing chrome over this blue.
so, short of sending stuff out for chrome plating, what combo will work and still be correct for the (mid-'90s going forward) number style??
here it is:
991/911 chrome emblem set for the '9'
+ another 911 chrome set for the '6'
+ 918 green/chrome emblem set for the '8' (after removing the 8 off the green base).
+ Cayenne GTS emblem for the 'GT'
.
thanks Ethan.

work brought me to the Dallas/Ft. Worth area this weekend.....
and a visit with my soon-to-be running machine (w/ just a few hours of work to go)....
left me drooling.

well,
I ran out the door without my digital camera,
and I'm pretty useless about these camera phones,
so I just figured i'd wait until the next visit
or, maybe I can ask Kent to shoot some photos of the bay, and the headers and oil pan from underneath.
the only thing that's really unique about this build; is the re-location of the driver's side coils
(on the LS9 valve covers) to make room for the Hydroboost master.... and AC.
waiting on Eric to complete the oil cooler, exhaust, and intake plumbing.

I've been asked what's up with my hatred of the 924/S....
I don't hate them at all. quite the contrary; but the idea of some 22 year old kid buying one pisses me off.
I think they should buy a 968 or (gulp) even a 944T instead...
but is it possible to provide solid reasoning for doing so?
I believe you can - for the same reasons, I should have bought a 993 instead of my 968.
but does my upside down P-car math hold water??
what say you all?
