Both of my cars were found on craigslist but two of my friends bought theirs from ebay and both are happy. I have seen periods with no 968s on ebay but not for a while.
The man I bought my '95 from had 5 other 968s at the time. Last time I saw him, he had only 2. It's funny how hoarding 6 968s can affect the market. Then suddenly selling 3 of them is like a stimulus plan.

i wouldnt buy a car off ebay outright, as in bid on it and then buy after winning the auction. I did purchase a couple cars off ebay in my lifetime. But not in the typical ebay fashion. I contacted the seller, went to drive/ppi the car and then had them end the auction early after an agreement on price was made.

You are correct Damian, it is just the standard black partial leather. That said, it is 1 of 21 NA 968 cabs painted in F9 Amethyst and 1 of only 2 paired with a black interior and a black top. It is pretty well loaded as well with painted crests, headlight washers, 17" cup1s, dual full power seats, hi-fi speakers and a CD changer.

I do not think it matters where you buy your car (or anything) if you do your homework and you set your price and stick to it. I usually like to buy private but I consider everything out there to find the right one.

Here's a neat one from eBay Canada:
http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...:X:AAQ:CA:1123
Even though it is listed for sale in Canada it is not a Canadian or North American car as you can tell from fender side lights.

Possible 15+ years old ROW model in Canada is 95% surely used import from Japan. Most Japanise cars are LHD even though they are RHD country. Canada is full of those cars and likely 968 have been imported also. Geting one to US is another matter.

White reverse lights was generic ROW setup and mandatory in most if not all EU countries at the time. In many cases people have painted them red or changed entire lights but usually ROW cars had white setup when they left factory. This includes Japanise models also.

Purchasing a car without seeing it is scary. When I purchased my 968 I thought of buying it without going to look and I am very glad I did not. The owner was not dishonest he just did know cars that well. After pointing out what the car needed he accepted a much lower offer. I might have low balled him a little, but what I paid for the car was much much closer to actuall value than his initial asking price.
