Hello Dave, it was great to meet you recently at the Porsche Parade in Traverse city. We spoke briefly near the 968s on the concours. I mentioned that I was considering tackling a top and a bottom engine project.
Regarding VarioCam inspection, you mentioned that it can be a straightforward replacement of the plastic guides and perhaps the chain, without needing to reset the timing. I have read that it is also advisable to replace the cam sprockets along with the chain, and that its possible to have the old sprockets removed from the camshafts and replaced with new, and not have to buy new cams. What do you think?
Thanks and best regards,
