Default Headlight replacement

One of the headlights to my coupe has a bb-shot hit to it. I assume the glass cover alone can't be replaced. What is best, purchase a new one or is it going to be too expensive and I should pick up a used one. What is the replacement task like? Thanks

Worldpac is listing it as part number 944 631 923 00 for the left side and 944631 924 00 for the right. Price for each is a shade over $300. I am guessing that Sunset's price over the phone will be about the same. Installation is pretty straightforward.

Thanks Scott, and that is just for the "lense/bulb", not the entire assembly?

Thanks for reminding me to install the protector kit I got a couple of months ago.

Jeff, its listed as an assembly. PET lists the headlamp unit itself as part number 944 631 912 01, but Worldpac doesn't list that as being available. I haven't asked Sunset for on eof those (yet!).

Speaking of, where are you guys getting your 3-M light protector kits from? I need to order a set..

Okay Scott, thanks, I'll follow up on a price forjust the bulb which is all I need. Hopefully that is more reasonable then the used assembly. Do you know what is involved for just the bulb replacement?

Thanks Pat, passenger side.

Does the 3M kit keep what happened to my lens from happening?

At one time, Xpel had a warranty which covered the cost of the protected headlamp, quite popular with $1000 + BiXenon headlights.

IIRC, they have changed the terms/coverage/amount of the warranty, but FWIW I always install Xpel kits on all my headlights.

They appear to offer the kit for the 968 (covers headlights, fog lights and signal/turn indicators):

(clear, blue, yellow or smoke available)

It doesn't matter which side headlight it is, they are both the same. There are a few little tricks to getting the headlight out. There are 3 cheesehead bolts that hold the headlight to the frame. There are also a few phillips screws that need to be removed.
You have to start by 1st releasing the headlight lock mechanism that is on the inner fender.
Once you pull that, the headlight should be able to be pulled to a 90degree angle. You can then start removing the cover and then the hardware.

Yes, simple job. It took me around 5-10 minutes to change one out. Removing the color coded plastic cover was a trick. Be careful spreading this as it can crack very easily.

A new lens is $220. I'll be going with a used one.

Jeff, if you have any problems sourcing a used one, give me a holler -- I have parts to get rid off.
