Default lots of hot air

I can not get the hot air to shut off in the cabin. The fan is off and the temp is set to low. Even on a cool 55 degree night I can not get any outside cool air in the car. Anyone know what I should check out first? Temp guage looks OK.

You may have a broken heater clip. See the following for more details:

Thank you for the link, I did check the rod and clip and both seem to be be hooked and in good shape. What I need to figure out is what controls that flap. It seems that the other vent controls work fine but I can not get that flap to do anything. Have not tried with the car warmed up yet. When I do get it warm I will control the flap manually and see if that shuts off the cabin heat and lets in some outside vent air.

I assume you've checked the obvious, that the heater valve is working (closes with the car running) and if not, that there is vacuum to it. Of if it does close but you get heat anyway, in which case it is bad.

If your vacuum to the climate control is disconnected you get heat. If vacuum to the valve is disconnected, you get heat. If the valve leaks, you get heat. if the control head fails, you get heat.

Closer inspection with the cover off revealed that my plastic clip is indeed broken. When I turn the temp dial switch it does move the arm as it is suppose to do. As soon as the clip is fixed it should be OK. Thanks for the help guys.

I noticed a missing relay while I was under there. It is right next to the annoying door chime relay. Anyone know what that is and if it is suppose to be in there?

Got vent air in the car and the heat shut off by following the instructions on the link above. Thanks Karl. Now back to the AC.

It's not missing, its the DRL (Daytime Running Light) relay which came as standard equipment on Canadian cars. It is not supposed to be there on a US spec car. You can always purchase one if you like.
