Default Off to the painters Monday!

I didn't think things were ganna move this fast, but I'm taking the car to the painter's Monday. To save some money, I'm going to take it to him with "stuff" already removed. I'm removing front panel, rear panel, skirts, hatch(maybe), rear side windows, mirrors, door handles, antenna, headlights, badges, and so on. He'll do his thing and I'll put it back together.

SO, are there any tricks to taking it apart?
Best source for clips, brackets, etc to put stuff back on?
Seam bead material? (rubber between all the panels)
Anything else to consider?

I thought I was going to ease into this project, but I guess not this time!

Ok, found some stuff out. Looks like Sunset has the rubber beading, or at least someone got it there for their entire car. I found the rear bumper bead at Paragon, and the skirt mat'l at porscheshop. I guess its different? I'll call Sunset today if I can and get more info.

I found some fairly detailed instructions in an old post, enough at least to get started. Found some clips and hardware(?) also at paragon I think, but don't know if it's everything since I don't know what exactly I need.

I got the clutch slave last night, and I thinks that's tonights project. C ya

Do you have a PET disc? This will give you an idea of how things are put together and the part numbers for the clips and bits.

I thing Paragon has PET online. Sunset should be able to get everything.

I got all the seals for the bumpers, mirrors, door handles, and rockers from sunset.
I also got all the clips for the rockers from sunset.
I think the total for everything was under $100 including shipping.

Great to hear that you're diving straight into this project!

You have PM for something that might be of use.

I called Sunset today and got a quote. $111 for all the rubber I'll need. Clips are $1.21ea, think i'll just get them since I've broken 2 just trying to see them. I think PET will help a lot. You can use it to see how things come apart too. Thanks josephsc, big help Gotta go throw some food down my face so I can go get on the clutch slave job!

Ok, I need some advice. I started taking the car apart today and ran into a couple issues.

How do I remove the cat whiskers of the front doors? Got the door panel off and I can see the clips that hold it on on the bottom, but i can't get it to move. the top part is really solid and I can't figure how its held in either. Is it just glue or what? I want to reuse if possible, any ideas?

How do I get the rubber around the windshield off? Will it come off without taking the windshield out?

I had planned on taking the quarter windows out, but they look glazed in and would require cutting the glazing out. Should I bite the bullet and have a window guy remove the windshield and qtrs?

Not sure what you mean by cat whiskers.
Rubber around the windshield gets pushed into a ridge. If you pull it carefully, you can remove it. It might tear though so be careful. Its not expensive if you do pull it.
Removing the rear quarter windows would be a lot of work. As you said, they are glued.

Maybe cat whiskers is not the right name. I'm talking about the rubber/felt in the door around the glass. The part my finger is touching. Here are a couple end of day pics too.

Got it all pulled out. Once I took the outer weatherstrip off I saw the tabs the hold the end of the trim pieces on. Upon closer inspection of the trim, I saw it was 2 pieces. Pulled the rubber out and then took the trim off. Not too bad. I also got the windshield trim off, but shreaded it in the process. It's all but loaded on the trailer and ready to go!
