Can someone tell me what the difference between a 968 and a 944 windshield is? I checked PET and the 944 cabrio and the 968 cabrio share the same part numbers but not the coupes. Thanks

The late 944 coupe windshield has an integrated antenna, while the 968 does not. I've been told the 968 version is NLA, which sucks because it was the cheaper one!

The only windshield that is still available is the cab windshield. I needed one for my SY coupe and had to get a cab windshield. I picked up a spare last yr just in case.

Jeff, it was actually a mixup. I found it on Ebay. I thought I was buying a rear hatch glass, which is what the description said. It was NOS from a Porsche dealer. When I recieved it, it turned out to be the front windshield. We worked out a deal and the price was right.
Last time I had one nstalled at Precision, it cost around $500-550. The windshield worked fine in a coupe. I had picked up a small chip which turned into a huge crack within days. I should have repaired the chip to stop the damage. Lesson learnt for next time. It was also middle of winter with constant temp changes, which probably aggravated the situation further.
Regards.

Raj is right about only cab windshields now being available.
After a crack appeared in mine (coupe) last year I had it replaced. Part number is 944-541-011-14 for the OEM Sekurit glass. Price from Porsche was $683 + $105 installation. Thankfully it was covered by my insurance - $200 deductable.

What? So then what do you do if your 968 Coupe's windshield is hit by a rock? You have to go aftermarket?

The angle is different between the coupe and cab-I almost took out an eye when I first sat down in my cab after a couple of years of coupe ownership. I'll take your words that they're interchangeable . . .

Couldn't a 944/2 windshield be put into a 968 coupe? I wonder how a 968 would look with the roof antenna deleted...
I'll believe you that a cab windshield will fit into a coupe... but otherwise I would have thought it not possible. Like Damian I thought they were a different shape.

I have a cab windshield on my coupe now. Dimensionally they are the same.
The 944 windshield is shorter. A good glass guy can make it work, but will need lots of extra sealant at the base of the glass.
Edit...
After some thought, I really do not remember what windshield I have installed now. I will have to check the P/N on my invoice from Porsche.
