Thanks. It will be interesting to see boost numbers with my setup. I have the boost gauge attached to the port at the bottom front of the intake manifold. I'm thinking that if the boost is lower, I'll need to decrease the SC pulley size to compensate.

The IC that I bought "claims" the following pressure drop: 2~4psi@35psi; 0.2~0.5psi@15psi.

That is a reasonable claim - that sounds about right.

Note how the pressure drop goes up as the psi increases...

Anyone wanting to play with numbers while they're saving for Carl's kit can go here: http://www.not2fast.com/turbo/glossary/turbo_calc.shtml

Please do not use the results to fight a paper war! Carl's word is law. Experience beats theory any day.

Cheers,
Mike

Good calculator if you have all the values to hand.
Here`s an easier one

That is the website that I originally looked at and punched the numbers for. So, for my setup it predicts 304 to the wheels. Carl's website shows an increase of 67 hp for the stage 1 setup. If you add 15 hp for the intercooler as Carl suggested you get 82 additional ponies. Add that to my existing dynojet number of 227 and the answer is 309 rwhp. On a mustang dyno (which is what I will be using in 7 days), my dyno reading is 200, so do the math. Time will tell.

I have had a Vortech Supercharger put on my 968, and it has just come of the dyno with 305 at the rear wheels HP with 5.5 lbs boost at 6500. I live in New Zealand and bought a used kit off ebay from a Infiniti 3500cc installation about two years ago. We have mounted an intercooler, along with the radiator horozontally in the nose, exiting thru a large slot in the fiberglass bonnet. We also have a 3" pipe passing straight thru a long muffler in the central tunnel and turns to exhaust in front of the RHS rear wheel. The computer, compression are stock. According to my quick and hasty and contestable judgement I reckon I can do 60-100mph in under 4 secs! It is the only car since a 427 AC Cobra I raced that actually does press you into the seat! I started with the wrong car, a cheap very low mileage plain-jane tiptronic, so it's too high and soft. The sound is deep with a crisp top edge, 92dB at 3000rpm. I like it, but it its not the world's greatest symphony. Looking back, and absorbing this thread, I should have bought Carl's kit. It would have saved me $20,000! I don't have air con either ,not that I wanted it as its going to be track car, albeit compromised. I bought some stuff off 928 Int for my 928S4 and found thema superb outfit to deal with. My interest in supercharging came from a ride in a NZ 928S4 with Carls kit, that was phenominal with 4lbs boost. Seemed to spin the tyres even in third gear, say 100mph?

I love to hear reports like that.

Carl,
Would an auto 968 be suitable for this power (928s may have better box) or out of the question ?

the 968 box is a decent high-hp box that can run good up to 375-400 hp + if you're not beating the crap out of it.... but, by that time, the stock clutch, tt and input shaft are riding shotgun.... these are your weakest links, and will serve to protect your transmission, if that's any consolation... in the 24 hours of La Manns and Daytona, the driveline components were beefed up and dnf's, were the result of transmission failures... though i'm not certain if it wasn't blown up i.s.'s (which would be called the same for the books).

oooop, didn't catch the "auto" part. i imagine a supercharged tiptronic would be pretty good

because the torque converter would protect driveline parts from stress (torque) spikes.

I wouldnt hesitate to install this on a 968 with an automatic. You'll be fine.

The shifts will become very crisp - you'll be pleased.
