the Technical Specifications booklet from 11/92 says the crankshaft, rods, and pistons are forged ( p. 16 ), maybe you can buy rod bearings in a 12-pack...

best,

In my experience the 968 forged rods are about as good as you can get. Sure, there are some expensive parts that are marginally lighter, but not really better.

If you want to beat an Evo, get a 951, chip it, etc., and go get 'em!

What about the early rods? Wasn't there a TSB on them?

The rod girdles were a different design in the later cars. They were stronger/reinforced.

there's nothing wrong with a nitrous system as long as it's done cleanly and not abused - don't blow up your engine. What year 968 engine do you have?

Do you have a 6 speed? Did you buy a chip yet?

968 and 928 GTS are probably worst possible factory rods for turbo, supercharger or NOS application. Early 1R casting number version is really terrible as it needed to be changed even though factory engines using it were NA only. 2R casting number version which came in middle of '94 MY is better but still not good enough for serious boosted engine.
