Congratulations, Raj. I was under the impression that happy endings like this only happened in the story books. I would have been chicken to venture far from a tow truck after doing all you did.

I'm pleased for you.

Thanks Harvey. I have enough witnesses that actually saw it in person at Hershey .
It was a complete feeling of satisfaction making it to Hershey and back without a glitch.

Harvey, funny you say that. I was initially planning on closing it once I get my transaxle back in the car. If it helps others, I would be happy to leave it open.
Regards.

Update 5/13/2008
Picked up the transaxle yesterday and installed it. Repacked the inner cv joints.
Added a 944Racing shortshift kit.
Now, I just need to remove some negative camber and that should be it for now.
The car should be done tonight and I can start enjoying it again.

Seriously it was a great tread Raj- thanks for sharing--Mike

PS - I noticed you Jersey boys all have the bumperettes removed from the front- where did you find the lights or lenses?

She is finally DONE!!!!!!!!
When I was under the car to adjust the toe, it put a big smile seeing how dry everything was. It really made it worth all the hard work. Took her for a spin and kept smiling the whole time. I missed driving her and didn't realize how much fun a 968 is.
Now, on to the next project...
Regards.

Awesome job Raj! Now, all you need to do is write a book about "The art of Zen and the Porsche 968". ;-)

Raj,

You're way faster than any mechanic I know...and it sounds like your work is better too. I know what you're saying about the 968. Someone was interested a couple of weeks ago in buying my 968, but after pulling it out from its winter sleep and driving it and looking at that beautiful body, I decided to not entertain the idea of parting with it. He'd done a CarFax and was ready to drive 300 miles to test drive it. I refunded him the $30 CarFax fee.

A guy who works with me just bought a Mercedes SL 600 and he parks it near me in the parking lot. Three to one I get more compliments and people think my 968 must be faster than his twin turbo V12 w/over 500hp. Ha! It must be true...it's a Porsche.

Seriously, the SL 600 is a serious performer..but it's not as much fun in the twisties.

Keep truckin'

Flw, thanks bud!
Harvey, that SL600 is a beast. Once the car gets over its weight penalty, it is a monster. This is with very low boost. I can't imagine what it would be like if they upped it. Definitely once of those cars you want to stay clear of.
I drove the car into work today and am dying to get off so I can be back on the road again. I am heading to the windy city starting tomorrow so I won't be driving for the next 5 days. Everywhere I looked, people were admiring it. Gotta love it.
Now, I need to get "smurfette" license plates .
