Default Wheels, Wheels, Wheels...

At risk of being called a post monger, below are wheels fitted to a variety of Porsches....and many of these probably would fit the 968.

Gah Dayum, son! Dose c-note rimz be thuh HAWTness dawg. You know wut I'm talkin' bout? Yeeah.

I wonder if the 19" lobster claws will fit. I don't think I've seen 19"s on a 968 or 944, aside from custom blingy wheels.

Which ones are these?

These are the painted centers. The polished ones are a lot rarer.

Those could be easily polished, if one could find someone willing to part with them.

Sure, if you have $6k to spend, go right ahead. They would not have the same finish either since Speedline used a special process to polish them.

I had read a Porsche technical bulletin on 928s that recommended against larger diameter wheels as it (apparently) put extra strain on front suspension parts. Maybe it's something about physics. If so, the same might apply to 968s.

I do know, however, that virtually everyone ignores this and runs 17" and 18" wheels and there have been no problems that I've heard of.

Porsche recommended against any wheels larger than 17" on 968's, not counting the Turbo S/RS.

I remember seeing a picture of a red 944 Turbo with the lobster claw wheels but I don't know if they were 18 or 19 inch. I may have the picture somewhere and will post it if I find it.

Here is my set. Call me insane for taking apart a nice set. I need to get my head examined.

Here I am, taking it all apart to get it refinished. I spent all of sunday evening taking a 160 nuts/bolts apart that were locktighted. My hands and muscles still ache. Now comes the painful part. I will have to tap the outers off. Jeez, I need to find some ***** for this.
God give me courage .

I would tape rags to the face of the wheel and outside edge/lip and then get a rubber mallet or dead blow hammer and start beating on them. I'd also do it in a room that has carpet.

Cory, that is exactly how I was told to seperate them as well.
Now I just need to find the courage.

These aren't the lobster claws but some 19 inchers on a 951:
