Default What are the coolest wheels for 968? (post pics?)

I've noticed that quite a few wheels will fit the 968, from other Porsches or after-market. What wheels do you think look coolest? Me? I don't have a full set yet but I like Design 90s best.

Post pictures of what you like if you can.

Harvey

Those aren't Design 90. Those are 88TS/89T Club Sports. S2's had design 90's...

Thanks for the correction. I like them both! Great designs.

Damian,

Can one run wider tires with the Kinesis wheels? Admittedly, they really look sharp.

I love my speedlines but its like marrying a super model. Too much maintenance.

What 17in wheels came on the 1995 year cars as factory option ?

Cup2s ? since the 1995 Carrera came with the Cup2s typically with the M030 option.

Harvey - I have a set of refinished/silver Clubsports from my 1989 944 Turbo if you/or anyone else is interested - PM me please.

Yes, the 1995 968 had as an option the 17-inch 993 Cup (aka Cup 2) wheels. The 92-93 model had the optional C2 Turbo (aka Cup 1) 17-inch wheels. The 993 Cup wheels are a little lighter than the C2 Turbo wheels.

What OEM Porsche rims are compatible on a 1993 968 ie. 993 / 964 / 928 rims? What is the stock offset? Is there any advantage to putting 17's on my car? I run stock 16" rims (Cup 1?) at present but can no longer buy Michelin Pilot Sports since they discontinued that model in 16". Is it worth the expense to "size up" to 17's? I've seen some 968's with Turbo Twists - is that a straight bolt-on or does one need spacers or adapters?

Stew, there are some boxster wheels that require a spacer because the hub cannot clear the 968 wheel bearing cap on front wheels. Besides that, anything that is a widebody 911 wheel would fit.
Our factory 17 inch wheels were in 65 offset front and 55 offset rear. Most 993 cup2 wheels are 55mm offset all around.
I think Steve Z has a set of 968 Cup2's he is looking to sell.
I will post some pictures of speedlines soon.

Harvey,
I'm glad you spared me the trouble of posting my favorite wheel - the 951S wheel like you pictured. The widest and lightest late offset 16" wheel they made! And though some say they look dated I disagree, and I don't care what they say anyway!

Unfortunately I've been stuck with some stupid D90s for the last couple weeks due to some tire issues. I really don't like D90s that much but they're alright I guess.

However, I prefer the original 968 Turbo RS wheels. They just look so sexy to me.
