Default Want to buy a 968

I'm sorry everyone for being lazy and not using the search function.....I'm in the market for a 968. I'm not new to Porsche's, but new to the 968. Is there anything I should know about these cars before I buy one. Is one year better then another? I already know about the pinion bearing issue.

TIA

Default 968s

Most will agree that all the years are the same and you should make your purchase based on the car. The 92s have R12 A/C but that can be easily converted if needed. There were minor changes made to the car in mid-94. The seats were replaced with a 993 style seat vs the 944 however the old style seat matches the door panels. You have to decide if you want a coupe or cab. If you want a coupe and are into performance the M030 cars are the most desirable with brake and suspension upgrades. There are a few around. Check the PCA 968 register web site for more information and 968forums and 968.net. Good luck. Let us know more details on what you are looking for and we can keep an eye out for you.

Thanks Jeff for the help. Kind of what I thought on the model year differences. I'm looking for a 6 speed, lsd, coupe. Exterior color not important, but the interior needs to be black. Suspension is also not important as I'm planning to swap out most of the parts off of my 951. Here's the story on my car: https://rennlist.com/forums/944-turbo-and-turbo-s-forum/399572-anyone-need-parts.html. I would like to build a 968 into similar condition.

Kevin, I would stick with Rennlist and PCA like websites. Most times, you will get an enthusiast who has maintained it well. There were a bunch of them not too long ago. I might know of one as well.
Also, it looks like you do a lot of your own wrenching so you should be in good shape.

Thanks Raj. I'm glad you chimed in here as I'm sure I will be sending you a lot of PM's in the coming months with regards to my build.

Thanks, I have been browsing there and I tried to post to that guys thread, but it still won't let me. That car would be perfect if the interior was black. It has a lot of the track goodies on it that I want already.

My story has nothing on yours. I've got one car right now that I'm getting ready to put a deposit down on. I'll post it on here once I get that deposit put down.

Good choice of car. Two friends of mine here in Barcelona drive 968s. Only thing that would keep me from switching is my addiction to turbo boost. You been through rehab yet?

So you want a 968 for a conversion. Not sure what you meant by "most of the parts." Sounds exciting!

That's the idea right now. We'll see what the insurance company has to say.
