Default Door sagging

It seems that the piece that goes from the door jam to inside the door has come loose, and needs to be welded back on. At least, this waht the mechanic at the Porsche dealer told me.

So, I have a friend who is good with a welder. Is the door panel easily removed? Or is all this better left to a body shop?

the door panel is a bit of a chore to remove, but only because it has a bazillion screws holding it on - remember where they all go - also, use the removal tool for the plastic retainers at the bottom or you will probably break at least one

the internal wiring is a different story if you have to remove that - that one is a real pain

If anybody's been inside the door, can you tell me if it's possible to remove any of the bracing?

I've put a cage in my car and would like to lighten up those doors, if possible. I've scared to open up the door and look inside to see for myself, because I don't have the tools to do it correctly.

I'd like to know if there are any bracings, which are redundant since putting in the cage, that I can remove.

Thanks,

Jason

Jason, you could get a pair of Club Sport panels with wind up windows, saving the motor and switch weights.

I'd try the UK guys, maybe they have a european PET with part numbers, or a list of 'breakers' who would have parts from written off cars.

Jason, that would be your cheapest bet. Get a UK or german owner who will part with his non power parts.
