For those of you who lowered your 968...
...what was involved in doing it? I'd like to lower the car 1/2" - 1" and some people I talked to said it would be difficult to do so in the rear. Basically use Konis up front with the height adjustment kit and go coilovers in the rear. There was a suggestion to tweak the eccentric plates in the rear, but that would only yield so much, how much is anyone's guess.

My car is as low as I'd want to go-H&R sport springs in the front from www.paragon-parts.com and then lowered by the eccentric in the rear to match, followed by a realignment. You get over 1.5" that way. Check out the fender gaps with 17" wheels.

Damian, your car is a rare case where you could go so low with just eccentrics. I have never seen anything get that low with just eccentrics. Consider yourself lucky there .
If all you are trying to go down is 1 inch, you might be able to get close with just eccentrics depending on where they are at now. It would not make sense to go to coilovers just cause you want to drop an inch.

Thanks for the reply Damian - just to get it straight, you used the H&Rs up front, and eccentric in the rear. If you used the H&Rs up front, you were able to match the lowering in the rear with the eccentric plates alone? I was told I'd be lucky to get 1/2".

the eccentrics are supposed to give you about 11/16" - we've seen it do different thing on different cars - on ron's car(hardtop), with h&r springs up front, we got the 1" drop from them, and matched ride height in the rear - on dave's car(hardtop), also with h&r up front, we ended up 1/4" high in the rear
on my cab, my eibach/tech art front springs dropped it 1.75" in the front, so i had to make big changes in the rear to get what i wanted, because the eccentrics left me a good 1/2" short of level

I'm quite happy with my arrangement, and it's just that-springs, then eccentrics. If you want 1 inch, and get 7/8ths, then you're still great. And this will be about a fraction the price of going coilovers, screwing with torsion bars, etc.

If all you are after is a simple lowering then go for the lowering springs and eccentric as described above. You should be able to get close enough for your liking. If you are looking for a track/autox setup then you could start looking at the coilovers, but if you do rear coilovers you will have to re-index and the $ starts flying out the window, but that is all in good fun however.

I also have the H and R springs in front and the lowered eccentrics in the rear (Raj is the most powerful guy I know!) and I sit pretty low, not as low as Damian in the rear, but a good bit lower than stock.

it is the easy way to go, and gets you pretty close - ron got lucky - his torsion bars were sagging, so he ended up level
i had to go through hell, but the weight balance was critical to me - 1/2" high in the rear shifted about 75# to the front - not what i was looking for
give it a go and see where you end up - then you can decide how important it is to you - a really good alignment may make enough of a difference that any small height issues may not make a difference to you

a good starting point would be to measure your ride height now, and see where your eccentrics are - then you could determine where you would end up after doing the h&r and eccentric adjustment - you may get lucky like ron did

a salesperson suggested going adjustable konis in front eccentrics in back, that way you're not stuck with a fixed height up front. that sound like a better idea? its a bit more money than just the springs, but at least i wouldn't have to worry about the f/r weight shift

i think he means to add sleeves, collars and linear springs, and delete the stock springs - yes, this would give you adjustablilty in the front, a small increase in cost (about $250) and solve your problem - the only drawback is the lenear spring - you lose the progressive rate of the h&r - this may not be a bad thing though depending on what you want your ride quality to be
