Need help Verifying '92 C2 Turbo S2!
I recently bought a 964 many of you may have seen on ebay. Its a 1992 C2 Turbo S2 (only 20 produced for IMSA mandate??). This car was in Car and Driver in Feb 1993. I recently received a copy, and am currently trying to verify its authenticity. I have looked long and hard as well as discussed this car on many different forums. Original window sticker for this car shows added Turbo S2 Option $10065, as car and driver states. The car and driver pictures appear(very hard to tell for sure) to have the turbo emblem on the rear deck lid as my car does. I have seen another photo of a S2 with a S2 emblem in place of the turbo. Another noticeable difference in my car to the C&D photos is the front signal lights are missing the bumper pads on mine. There is very limited to no information on this car. Any infor/ help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

I was told by another S2 owner that half the cars had the S2 Badge and half said turbo.
You might want to contact Ray Joseph from RPM Motorsports cars and see if he knows anything that can help you out.

Looks to be legit. Pricing works out on window sticker vs C of A. No view of rear badging but this might be one of the cars with the stock turbo badge. IIRC the S2's I have seen have special tags applied inside the doors and other areas that show an Andial serial number. I also am confused. They claim larger IC but IIRC they had a stock IC and the one in the picture appears to be stock size. Otherwise might be worth a look.

Various racing bodies have punished Porsche over the years due to its success/dominance in many series. I think Porsche is always having to come up with new ways to race the competitive car it wants to. Some of this may be a little different now as the ALMS will just add weight to any cars that it deems too fast for its class, like it did the Corvette when the Aston Martins couldn't win a race. Now the Corvettes race alone against each other and the extra ballast is gone.

Not so straightforward to determine willingness to pay for this car.
It's very rare, yes. But has lots of mods (wheels, coilovers, exhaust, steering wheel) and lots of miles 75k.
What would a regular 3.3 fetch in the same condition?
Do you guys expect a premium for the 'S2' status?
TIA

VictoryMotorcars just sold a 92 Amazon Green T for $54 which I was intersted in but was outbidded. He just got a 92T Black with 20k miles asking $59k. I am surmising that the continued higher priced 94 T's showing up in the $70's and some in the $80's are driving up the price on low milage 92's from the $40's to the $50's. At these prices, might as well get a 993 TT.

It is interesting to see how strong the market is for 964Ts has become. The 993TT provides a lot of value (and if I am ever rich, I'd like one in my garage), given that their prices have been beaten down by much faster depreciating 996TTs.
