Default Tire/Wheel Size Upgrade

I am wanting to put 18x9" front and 18x10.5" rims on my 965 with 265/315 Yokos 048s.

Does anyone know if 9" rim with 265 will fit up front?

Also i know 10.5" rear rims will fit but will 315s fit? I currently have 10" with 295s and still have room left.

Purely for track and some summer street driving; performance is the priority.

Thanks.

265 on the front? Surely that would be awful?

i know 911 race cars uses 285 in the front and 335 or larger in the rears. But i just need to know what the max size we can fit without modiflying the fenders.

No way. I run 295 MPSCs in the rear, and that is as big as you can go without swapping to NA trailing arms or flaring. I've run 245s in front and they are fine for track bit will rub at full lock. I really doubt that 265s would work.

Depending on the make of the tire you might be able to run 295's on a 10.5" wheel but that would be it,ask me how i know it...btw mine are 285's on 10.5" wheel and i was unable to squeeze 295 bridegestones....

You can fit a 265 in the front, but like the 245s they will rub at lock. I have 10" rims on the front of my car.

Geoffrey, what size tires, wheels, and offsets do you run? I'm looking into a set of custom wheels and need to know the max width and correct offsets needed.

I am wanting to run 9" with 265 up front and 10.5" with 315 rears on my 3.6T.

I personally would stick with the 235 or 245 in front and 295s in the rear. There is absolutely no way you can get a 315 in the back legally for C class.

Might be the wrong place to mention this, but I have a set of generic Speedline wheels available for sale. They appear to be the 993 RS style and are 9 & 10 x 18. They have speedline etched in the outer rim half, but do not have a Porsche part number inside the spokes. Little elbow grease and I think someone could really be happy. One out rear rim shows little scuffing, so it just depends what someone is looking for. Not sure what to ask, but I have found a set of OZ wheels TT 8.5 & 11 x 18 for my turbo look 964. I am curious about the upgrade tire size wondered whether 295 on 11" would work, should I get /30 or /35? anybody? had thought 235/40 for the front would be next logical size. Wish I could furnish pics, but car is apart waiting on rear flares to be welded on. Considered making a replicar 3.6 flatnose, but now am not sure I want to modify a set of 964 turbo front fenders. Oh I have found the TT guys a little snobish if you do not have a TT. Last post no one even bothered to answer just because I said I had a 964. Go figure. Jim

i am using 235 and 295 with my 8" and 10" 18s on my 3.6T. With the non-turbo 964 you can go 11" without any problem.

It's not the rim width, but the tire size. I have seen a bunch of track/race C2 turbos, and all could only run a 295 in the rear. On my car, I have maybe 7mm of space to the trailing arm, and under 5mm to the fender. Any less than that, and they will rub when the tire flexes under load. You might be able to run something bigger on the street, but no way on the track. Also, different tires measure differently. I have run 295s in both MPSCs and Hoosiers. Both are a tight fit.

I would love to be able to run 305s or 315s, but I just don't think it is possible.
