I would say it's all about history. Motor redone, no leaks, no accidents, targa top redone, under 50k miles with 5 speed, 2 to 5 k in Maitenance per year is 58k all day long. I think the above estimate is way high in relation to discount off a coupe. I would even go so far as to say that there is a specific market willing to pay more for a targa and long run investment they will be worth more. Color is more important, c4 more important and convertible is the bottom of the list. Red cars also sell for less and black cars the paint can become a problem with webbing.
Since when are targas worth more than cabs? For the 20+ years that I have been owning and driving 911s and following the market, the order has always been coupes, then cabs, then targas.
have to agree...convertibles are the bottom dollar amount by a large factor on 964's which is strange because they are more expensive to begin with...I have watched the 964 market closely for 20 years as well...

The 964 offered the last of the true, non mechanical targa. Production numbers were insanely low as well. Given how the market discounts targas vs. coupes, it could be the best investment opportunity of the series. FWIW I sold my MY92 C2 50k miles targa last year for mid $60's....oh yeah, it was mint green
Last time I did research on this mine was 56 of 158 brought into the U.S. (Midnight Blue) It will be offered for sale in the coming weeks. Did yours sell for mid 60's on the west or east coast ?
