Go body color sills and matching front under trays, however you're going to need an aggressive ride height and wheel/tire combo to pull it off. Shouldn't be a problem since a track car will likely fit that aesthetic. Cars that are stock looking w/ stock height tend to look chubby w/ color-matched sills.

I prefer keeping the lower portions black, it looks better (subjective of course) and it is easier to touch up by yourself without the need to color match. Mask off, rattle can, done until next time.

LOL

I am torn. Both valid points and it will be a lowered aggressive stance with all satin black accents.

Glad we could help. I'm not sure if this is a widebody drawback or not but the bottom portion of my shark fins are always getting peppered, I can only imagine on track. With my lowers being black it is an easy touch up though, and I left the front items unpainted (air ducts, splitter, under trays) so I wouldn't have to worry about stone chips.

I went with black on mine purely because I thought it would look correct.

That was my initial thought. Still not sure why Porsche painted some colors black and all the 3.8 RS's seem to be black as well.

Do you have a shot of your car I could see. My wife wanted green but we settled on the maritime all great colors

Awesome work. Can't wait to see when it's all done. I have a similar project going on but more refreshing the insides (engine/ignition/fuel/ecu). Best of luck!

Don't really have any close-ups - this is probably the best I have on my PC which shows the paintwork for the lower parts.

Absolutely Beautiful!!!

My wife and I battled over Signal green and Maritime blue not sure how we agreed to maritime although I won't let her see pictures of your car. She is quite happy and I want to keep her that way.

The idea was to keep it period correct no matter what color we used. Rubystone was on the list as well. I have to agree painting the lower rockers black looks correct to me and I believe I will do it but I have time to think it over and it can always be done later.

Thanks for sharing.

I say go black on the lower rockers, I think it helps make the side feel a little less heavy.

It was the first thing I changed on my car. Those Porsche stylists knew what they were doing when they painted those areas black.

Already decided they are being painted black as we speak.

It will just be easier in the long run and it doesn't make the car look so hefty in the midsection like its driver.
