I hear you. I honestly feel bad for the guy that was bidding against him. He’s probably a normal guy who really wanted the car but didn’t know that he was going up against someone with very deep pockets.

Seeing that BAT sale certainly changes things. I think most everyone was under the impression that the Singer 964’s were mostly used up cars that were being used for their VIN and Engine, that is clearly not always the case. Sad to see a good one get cut up.
Be on the lookout for a nice set of used RUF’s, I’m sure they will pop up for sale somewhere.

Obviously this is a very affluent customer base. I think more of client base is going to want a nice car to start with instead of one of the a shells that’s sitting outside in their storage lot.

Not the case at all. I bought my 40,000 mile 1992 C2 in October from a local shop with Singer connections. If I hadn't bought it, they were going to. I was told that they had orders for 70 cars and were buying all the decent cars they could find.
I feel lucky every time I look at my car! It's got a sunroof, so it's obviously not worth very much.

They've been buying cars for several years, at one point about 6-7 years ago, the word on the street was they were buying every 964 in the country under $20k - sight unseen.
Based on the photos of their storage facility that were circulating not that long ago, I don't doubt it.

There's not a vehicle on the planet I want more than a DLS Singer... I'll have at least the "base" Singer at some point before I die.

I’ve visited their place a few times to get some replacements for my car and yes Autobahn is excellent to work with. Mike lets me go through their entire inventory to find exactly what I want. Honestly buying some trim pieces used are far better than buying new unless you’re buying in pairs. The older parts can be selected to match the patina of rest of the car so it doesn’t look out of place. I wouldn’t be surprised if the RUF Wheels end up there unless the buyer of that 964 already has a friend lined up to buy them.

you are correct. I’m sure those Ruf wheels will end up on his eBay page eventually. I can’t remember his name, but he’s a really nice guy and very organized. Most of his stuff ends up on his eBay page. He’s located in El Cajon.

^^ Prices are far from reasonable in many cases.
