interesting.
Pardon a newbie's question, but a 964 should come with a 5-speed transmission right? This car appears to have a 6-speed (you can see it on the **** in one of the pics). Anyone know what's going on? I did find threads saying that you could put a 6-speed G50 into a 964 so maybe that's what they did but without documentation who knows what else has been changed in the car and the listing is full of contradictions.

It may just be that the PO preferred the looks and feel of the 996 **** and did not care that it showed 6 speed.

I can say by looking at the pictures a lot more was done to this car. The entire interior has been refreshed yet the steering wheel is abused. I would look carefully at this car. Odds are a complete repaint. Not sure what he did with the rear reflector and any time I see a supper clean interior and a steering wheel that is completely worn I have to wonder.

Suddenly we are seeing all these cleanish cars appearing. More and more you will find they are not what they appear to be so a PPI is a must on every purchase.

That strikes me as risky if this is the case. All it takes is one valet putting the car into 1st gear when the **** says that position is supposed to be Reverse for something bad to happen to your car.

Anyway, some good pointers there on signs to watch for. I just started the search for my car and I'm still in the research stages reading and learning.

The shift pattern is the same, it just has an extra gear that the 964 doesn't have. If the valet gets enough speed to need 6th, then you know you're in trouble... Flashback from Ferries Bueller's Day Off
