Classic Le Mans
Guys -
The biannual Le Mans Classic is running this year on 4-6 July. I've heard a lot of good things about it as a better way to experience Le Mans for those of us who like older cars, and have been doing some research.
I've been chatting to Frank (Black Betty) and we are both keen to go. Is anyone else interested in forming a group?
We'd need to get our plans formulated pretty quickly so let me/Frank know if interested.
It'd also be nice to get any insight or tips from those who have been before.
Thanks, Ben

Wish I could join you Lads! I have heard this is a MUST DO event. All the classics running in anger for glory. I believe they do it every other year, so I'm in for 2016. I'll be there to find an RS as it should then be legal to import one back to California by mid 2016.

I've been going to this since the first year they did it. Have been several times with a few guys who drive at the event in either a SWB 911 or 914/6.
I prefer this to the main Le Mans, it is quieter (although getting busier) and the cars are more interesting. Nothing beats watching GT40's against 917's battling around the Ford Chicane and then flying up the pit straight towards the Dunlop Bridge! The racing is also closer because it is a series of sprint races, rather than a long tactical endurance event.
If you book, try to book through Porsche Club France, because they offer Porsche parking on the inner circuit, close to the paddocks and not too much of a walk away. Probably the best car park in the world! If you need any help booking, I often organise my groups Le Mans trips and do the booking with Porsche Club France so I can help out with any bits and might be able to find some accomodation. We stay just outside Le Mans town, about 20 mins drive in, but never any traffic for the Classic, and we know the good places to eat - although we still get lost every year!!
I will be going this year so would be good to meet up with any other Rennlister's!

We do a road trip down and have done both classic and lemans, and found the normal lemans more party vibe with the crazy Dutch and mad Friday is a must, but having done the classic it's more car people.
Not sure why but was more worried about the car being damaged by some idiot or drunk doing burn outs on the camp site at normal lemans. Classic was awesome, noise of these older cars immense.
