Odds are it is the switch. I would look into it closer before discounting it. They can be temperamental and at times can work sporadically. If that doesn't work remove the seat is the next step.

Anthony- Thank you. Maybe I'll try to clean the contacts and swap the switch first.

So long as you don't loose the little ***** and springs it is an easy job. I did the same with my power mirror switch which is similar in design.

I pulled my OEM seats out of the car to give them a thorough cleaning. I noticed they have a RECARO sticker on them, which was surprising because I didn't know they made the OEM seats in the 964. Anyways I was curious if the 964 was the first 911 to use Recaro as the OEM seat manufacturer or if the older impact bumper cars also use Recaro's?

Thanks

AFAIK Recaro had been the supplier for Porsche and other makes since the 60's.

The partnerhsip with RECARO is as old as the comapny itself. Since 1949 Reutter produced the bodies for the Porsche 356. RECARO was formed in 1963, when Porsche started to make the 911 bodies in house. Reutter then changed its trading name to RECARO, created from a play on the words REutter and CAROsserie (vehicle body). The new company specialised in the manufacture of seats and seat components. The first RECARO sports seat was unveiled in 1965 and in motor racing circles RECARO quickly became an acclaimed brand.

UPDATE: My driver seat rear up/down was DOA. I cleaned the switch as suggested with Electronic Cleaner, and all is well. Thanks RL'ers!!

I just sprayed it through the 4 tiny openings. Make sure you rotate the switch and try to aim towards the back where the brass/copper rockers and 4 ***** are. This is worth a shot before opening up the switch and the ***** dropping everywhere. Haha

Btw, don't forget to disconnect the battery first or pull the fuse.

If I have no heat and the temp dial is always set on cold, can I remove the little fan on the back of the CCU?

I wish to powder coat my car's alternator fan. Are there areas of the fan that should be protected from the powder coating process?

Cool thanks. I have a few different plastics safe contact cleaners here... Will give that a go.

PC leaves a thicker layer than painting. I would minimize the coating along the edges of the blades if you can. As you can see how the fan sits inside the the fan shroud, there is a very small gap/tolerance between the two parts. Your newly refinished fan may rub.
