I do appreciate the Quattro system on the Audi, but I'm afraid that one4wd car is enough in the Belton household. That said, if I were to keep the 4wd on this build I would definitely switch to a 993 6 speed transmission and fit the matching 993 drive train as well. We've done this in the past to a 9m turbocharged C4 Celebration and it worked a treat, eliminating the understeer built into the 964C4 awd chassis. Of course, that would also mean that we could disconnect the drive to the front wheels whenever we needed to dyno the engine.

Colin,
I echo the gratitude for another project to keep us interested in the new year. These are especially welcome while our cars are garaged for the winter...
Have fun with it and we will all learn from the results...

It's my own car (at the moment) so I'm thinking of daily driver with track day potential. To be honest, although I've got my 993RS in the shop I've been watching you boys with your 964's and decided that I might be able to join in with some of the fun on track. Obviously it also won't do the business any harm to have a rolling test-bed for the 9m 964 performance conversions and be able to demonstrate the performance on track to potential new customers. Proof of the pudding, so to speak.

Dropped in to work today for the usual Saturday collection of a customer's car, so with an hour or so to spare I decided to remove the undertrays from the 964 to evaluate the running gear and take a peek at the engine oil leaks. Here is the photo blog summary of what I quickly discovered:
Koni rear shocks
Cam covers leaking
Cam carrier to heads leaking
Crankcase through bolts leaking
Fuel pipes corroded at rear (at usual place on the back edge of floor pan)
Front differential input seal leaking
