Fascinating .... My brain almost exploded following the gearbox assembly, thank God someone understands it... Are you saying, your whole car will be stripped bare and etch primed?

Yup.

Don't get me wrong, there are many paint shops who will happily repaint over many layers of old paint, some "get away with it" and the finish is good, most don't and as a result old repairs ghost image through the new paint after a few months. Since Ninemeister is not in the risk business we don't take any chances, so unless we are painting over the original factory finish the only way we can guarantee our paint is by removing all the additional layers of paint that other shops have applied. On my car the roof had not been painted so that will be flatted and primed.
To strip, bare metal and paint a 964 to this detail will take around 200-300 hours which at any labour rate is an expensive job. Where costs are a consideration the only exception to this rule is usually the doors when you are painting them to blend the colour to a fresh painted quarter or wing (fender); the reason why you can take a chance with the door is that it is easy enough to remove and paint again later should a problem arise, however the decision always lies with the customer and again, no bare metal = no guarantee.
Hope this makes sense?

You turn your back on Ninemeister engine builder Mark for 10 minutes and this is what happens:

I'll take that as a very big complement, so thank you!

Unfortunately we all have a budget to work to, especially when it's my own car, so whilst aluminium panels would be really cool they will have to wait for some other time I'm afraid.

As for the Motec, send me an email and by return I'll forward you some details with all the parts costs and so on.

The engine is coming on nicely, aside from a minor issue with the RH cam preventing Mark from finishing the build.

Fan colour is a clue to what's coming next....
