In which year did the 964's price bottom out? Back then, about how much was a nice condition 100k mile car going for then? Now how much is the same car? Just wondering how much missed the bottom by.

This depends a lot on where you are based.

As a benchmark though, I bought my 1991 C2 Coupe (LHD) in 2002 for about $22.5 in the UK and I guess it's now worth around $35K - $40K. I was lucky though as when I bought it prices for LHD cars were cheaper than RHD cars in the UK and now they're probably worth more.

Prices certainly came down though after I bought mine, so I'm sure others have an even bigger value delta.

I bought my GR 1990 manual c2 coupe in uk circa mid 2010 for just under £16k from an independent porsche dealer here. I feel like prices have been literally going up ever since.

in Australia the prices for 964 are crazy. I think they pay the most for this car I might be wrong. I would ship my car to Au if I ever wanted to sell it only problem is the country has a very strict import policy so supply and demand not many 964's prices go higher.

I got mine in 2000 £14K still could get that today very easily as it is LHD

I paid £25k for my 964 Turbo in 2009. The PO bought it ten years & 45k miles earlier and also paid £25k. My car has just been valued at £42.5k.

If you really want to know, check Hagerty's valuation guide and you'll see that 964 values bottomed out late 2010-early 2011 which is right around the time I bought mine for $18.5K which would sell easily today for $25K.

This is insane.... I got a near perfect C4 for 15k only a few months ago

Edit: payed 15k for my baby. In this pic its in the middle of a huge detail, I have the side mirrors painted black with plasti dip normally. I also have the side skirts in black. Some dont like it... but it grew on me and now the car looks weird without these things to me

I think there is also a big difference now between coupes/targa/cabs/C2s/C4s etc with the C2 coupe's commanding the top prices.

Probably not that relavent to all of you northern hemispherians, but down here they have been steady for about 4 or 5 years. I don't believe they are on the rise yet and their value hasn't been properly realised compared to the 993 which is expensive. Mine is a manual C2 coupe in good nick with 150k (93 miles) and is worth USD$31k or GBP19k. NZ new (sold new here, not imported used) carries a premium over a used import.

Bought my Carrera 4 with 63K for $21,500.00 in 2008. Think I could get 25-30K now with 76K.

I think 2008-2010 was the bottom, partially due to the economy taking a major beating.

I bought in early 2010 and even then I was already seeing prices climb compared to numbers listed in the official stickied "Prices" thread at the top of this subforum.

You can still get good 964s in the teens but you need to (a) find a seller who is legitimately interested in selling the car and not just listing in hope of capitalizing on recent appreciation and (b) be at the right place and right time (good cars at great prices get spoken for within hours of being listed).
